9/7/2009 Picked this up on a recent trip to NY. Pours a clear reddish brown with a good sized bubbly beige head. Smells of smoke and bacon initially. Huge smoky aroma dominates my nostrils. Faint dark fruits and maybe some walnuts hide deep in the bowels of my glass. Taste is sweet with caramel, molasses, and tobacco flavors that are scissored by some smoke to finish with a lingering cured meat/alcohol finish. Definitely a sipper here. Carbonation is medium to high, a bit prickly on the tongue affecting the creaminess of the mouthfeel a little bit. Big body. This is a nice sipper. Its a bit more smokey than I normally like, but what the hell it’s pretty good.

Bottle at CaptainCougar’s local tasting, thanks! Dark clear brown, large tan head. Aroma of charcoal. Taste is burnt toast. Not bad.

Tasted from a growler at Dark Lord Day, where the guy said it was "Sour Cherry Kriek." Bright reddish body, a little bit of brown. A pink foamy head. Decently sour cherry smell. Lot of sour cherry to the taste. Not much more to add; it’s a good, sour cherry Belgian style beer.

Stubby half pound bottle. Big black pour. Thickish, nearly tart with a good fine co2 sizzle. Aroma is a little sweeter than most dry stouts. Dark brown and nearly black yet no sediment. Nice finish. Gets more like-able as the session continues. No blatant signs of alky. Ends with old burned campfire wood that was dampened from a short spring sprinkling. OK NOW!

Bottle Thanks to Sam. Pours out a hazy amber topped with a white head. Aroma was of sweet malts, caramel, pit fruit, light hop notes, and honey. Taste was much as the aroma with a lot of sweetness some brown sugar, toffee, and some fruit.

Pint bottle, $2 @ Ray’s, Wauwautosa. Pours a nice brown malty body with busy bubbles and a large head. Smoky malt smell that can’t help but carry phenol, bacon and Edam cheese rind. Taste has plenty of Bamberg smoke to it, much more than any Scotch character. Still, the malt is nice and thick, but I start to get overwhelmed by Band-Aid taste. Gets a little hard to finish as a result. May be much better fresh on tap.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Thick, opaque burgundy brown, with a steady off-white head. Malty and rich, maybe a tad thicker than medium bodied. Some mild banana yeast tones under the smooth dark malts. Mellow and fairly enjoyable, this still can’t touch a good German example. Still a decent enough beer from Sprecher, no off flavors.

Small goblet draft, maybe 10 oz at The Wicked Hop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pour is a hazed golden orange, with not much head - what is present is white. Aroma is straw along with a honey, syrupy sweetness. Taste is the syrupy sweetness, along with pretty clove, and light phenols. Palate is medium bodied, lowish carbonation and a mild alcohol burn to the finish. Decent enough Tripel.

I received this from my beer of the month club today (4-23-2008). Pours a crystal clear dark copper with a thinnish off white head that has staying power. Aroma is caramel, some vanilla frosting, and some subdued dried fruit in the background. Taste is malty caramel with a hop bite in the finish. Full body sticky mouthfeel and crisp carbonation. Solid brew from Sprecher, to bad I can’t get them more often.

12oz bottle. Pours a bright, artificial looking pink-red with a bubbly non-head. The aroma is like mildly funky fruit punch. A pretty shitty beer from Sprecher, who wouldve thought? The taste is quite odd, this is the only "lambic" I’ve ever had that has odd, off buttery undertones. Not undrinkable, would almost fit in with some of the nonsense sugary Lambics that will cost you a dollar in Belgium. Really lacks any enjoyable cherry or sour flavors. An interesting experiment, with lackluster results.
