Purchased at Breeze-Thru in Milwaukee, WI; consumed on a Monday night after a terrible Bears NFC Championship loss. This is OK, kinda weird with the raspberries. Appearance is a very very dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, cocoa, and a hint of raspberries. Taste of raspberries and chocolate, somewhat smooth, definitely decadent. It’s good but wouldn’t go out of my way to enjoy again.

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor's Island, 6/19/10
Aroma: The nose is fairly malty: burnt, roasted, and caramel mostly
Appearance: Th pour is dark, brown/black color, a little red, largish frothy head
Flavor: Caramel and roasted malts, somewhat sweet, decent bitterness too, balanced
Palate: It has a decent mouthfeel, relatively long duration, and medium body
Overall Impression: This was a pretty solid dark beer. Not anything crazy or super exciting, just solid and drinkable, but that is no knock. This stuff is decent enough for what it is trying to be.

It smells like a zoo. Liteally, a zoo. Which might not be so bad for a lambic, but this one just doesn’t work. Red color and light cherry. Very light yeast and not sour at all. On one hand I want to congratulate any brewer for trying to do a lambic, but at the same time, it is important to put some effort in and get it right.

Deep black opaque pour that produces a quickly falling tan head. Rich roast malt aroma. Slight roast malt bitterness in the flavor that’s accompanied by a slight sourness that detracts a bit.

16oz bottle-pours a tight white head and hazy gold/orange color. Aroma is clove, bready-light malt, yeast, some banana/peach as it warms. Taste is clove/peppery, bready-light malt/wheat, yeast, light/medium fruit-peach/apricot. Lots of effervescence. Drying. Too peppery.

Yet another 16 oz bottle from Sprecher. I’m cautious, following a few horrid misses from Sprecher, but I’m not sure how they could mess up this style. Pours a deep coppery brown with a bit of a head and aromas of autumn leaves, damp earth, nuts and toffee. Not bad, but not as robust as I’d like. Flavor is pretty good... maybe a little caramel added to the aromas above is about all I’d say on the matter. It’s solid, kind of a darker and earthier Oktoberfest than most, but good. That said, it is a little thin at times as it slides across the palate.

Bottle thanks to MSante79. Interesting stout. Pours black with a dark brown head. Thin layer of retention. Nose of chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is very sweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and coffee. Body has thinner mouthfeel than expected.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a clear dark amber with a tan head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of sweet grain and candied sugars with a slight light fruit underlying. Flavor was similar with a lot of sweet grain and the candied sugars mellowed and a bit of fruit coming out in the finish.
