Bottle. Light gold pour with a small white head. Nose of grainy malts. Flavor is lightly sweet with some faint fruit and malt notes. Minimal hop presence. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes a bit sweet and mildly crisp. Nothing special. Can there be a good light craft beer?

On tap. Poured a hazy gold with a white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was quite sweet with wheat and grain coming through with some underlying spice and citrus. Flavor had citrus and spice notes that balanced nicely with the sweet wheat and grain notes.

A reddish brown lager with a very thin off white head. In aroma, nutty chocolate with light sourish notes. In mouth, a smooth chalky chocolate, powdery, a bit underwhelming. Medium bodied. On tap at Datz, May 24 2010.

12 oz bottle from the brewery - a boring but inoffensive d-weizen - fairly dry in the nose, with notes of cocoa, nuts, yeast - watery texture, light flavor - tastes mostly of yeast and moderate dark malts - however, there are some more complex notes of cherry, chocolate, and raisin waaaaaay in the back that make things a bit more interesting - no flaws, just bland.

This brewery tends to do fairly well with german styles, so I like to try their renditions when I get the opportunity - this one is decent - very creamy appearance and texture - on the lighter side for a hefe, so it is quite refreshing - semi-dry and herbal, with some dusty yeast character - only mild phenols in the form of banana and light clove - a wee bit of peppery character, especially on the tail end - lingering spicy, tangy finish - not terribly complex, but decent.

Poured from 16 oz bottle. I’ve had a couple of bad Sprecher brews in the past so I was apprehensive about purchasing, but the RateBeer reviews were good so I decided to try it out, and boy I’m glad I did. Aroma is of alcohol, chocolate and malt, it’s not overpowering but not anything to whiff at either. Pour is pure black. Taste is honestly like a low alcohol Dark Lord from Three Floyd’s...that’s what I’m tasting anyways. It’s rich in chocolate and coffee and is incredibly smooth. Will have to try again!

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice aroma with bourbon hints. Sweetish malty roasted chocolate and licorice flavor. Has a roasted malty malty chocolate finish with hints of bourbon in the aftertaste.
