Pours black, mahogany. Aroma, I cold not help but detect some very light smokyness. Malty and light fruits. Taste, malty, smokey, with some very nice chocolate and grains. Some dark fruits (fig/cherry) and roastiness. Another great offering by Sprecher.

Pours copper, beige head.Aroma is grainy, wheat and malty. Some nice notes of caramel and sugar Taste, lots of malts and caramel giving it a nice and smooth taste. Mouthfeel is unique, lost of ncie caramel, make this one a good seasonal brew.

16 oz. bottle from daknole. Thanks Dakine! Pours a golden red color with a one finger head, moderate retention and low lacing. Very strong toasted malt aroma with some light floral hop notes. Taste is toasted malts, grain, caramel and cinnamon-like spices. Almost like a pumpkin spice ale. Medium bodied with thin spots here and there.

Aged and also dry hopped. Light amber color, low, lace head. Aroma rather light. Cereals, grain, apples, some hops. Not very appealing. Very fruity flavor, but not much else. Sweet, with apples, cherries, a bit of hops. Slightly more hoppy in the finish, with fruit. Dry. Very straight-forward, uninteresting malt character. Not much going on here. Like a slightly sweet, too fruity amber lager. Too much fruit, no complexity. Drinkable and un-offensive, but not a traditional maibock taste at all. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mai Bock on 01 Sep 2008 at 20:02 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 5. No this was a let down. Pour was a copper with a large whtie head. Aroma is hard to detect with an ever so slight hop presence. Flavor is not much better but i get more of caramel malt then any hops. If your going to make a beer called IPA2 you better hop the carp out of it.

(Bottle 100 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Hazy amber golden with a beige head. Distict aroma of oak and vanilla. Medium body with notes of caramel, wood and vanilla with everything being overpowered by a very distinct sourness. Subdued bitterness. Wauw, amazing how a Barley Wine this strong can end up with an infection this bad. But still enough interesting parts to enjoy in this although the sourness is impossible to ignore. 260708
