Tap at Blind Tiger - well, the beer sure ain’t much to look at - no head, with a body that looks completely still - pretty thin aroma, with mild fruity esters and candi sugar - flat on the palate - peppery, with fairly strong floral qualities, high sweetness, some grain and light earthiness - the sweetness starts to overpower as it warms, washing out any complexity the beer attempts to have - lacking depth, but I might try this again.

From bottle. Pours orange with white head. Nice spicy aroma hops. Taste is strong spicy and with a good bitter finish.

Under the explicit name of Russian Imperial Stout Yellow-brown head, fast gone, over fully black beer. Very roasted/nearly burnt nose, a bit of carbon, and not too-sweet molasses. Sweet chocolate-like, roasted flavours, moccha. Soft, milder than your usual R.I.S. Full bodied, if less than usual R.I.S. Absolutely no burning in the MF, which is a touch of class. Smooth, velvety. A very good, milder, subtler and maybe more Caesarean Imperial Stout.

Light raspberry aroma, and I perceived this without realizing raspberry was an ingredient so that did that part right. Aroma with cocoa. Flavor is raspberry syrup and chocolate. 6 4 7 3 13 Tasted again, July 2009. Good raspberry flavor with light cocoa, and a little sourness. Mildly roasted.

This was pretty good for what is is. A simple session beer. It is straightforward with malt and processed grain flavor. Dark yellow color.

Badgerben nailed the description. I didn’t get very much aroma, but there is bourbon and a grainy, bread aroma as well. I tasted the coconut too. This doppelbock is on the thin side for the palate. What this beer does do very well is use bourbon to compliment the other flavors rather than overwhelm them.

Pour is a dark black with a small tan head. Aroma is berry and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same but the artificial berry stands out. Berry and porter? Who thought of this? Not real good and you don’t want more than one of these in a evening.

Wax capped bottle. Pour is a dark amber with a nice sized tan head. Aroma is some tart fruit with molasses and a vinegar smell. Flavor is super rich malts and tons of woody smokeyness. Some plum and pear fruit show up on the swallow. Alcohol is there but not overpowering. A tasty barleywine with some excellent qualities.

Yeah this is good. One thing it has going for it is the English style. I’m pleased it isn’t filled with coffee or hops. Black, syrup like texture. Nearly no head at all. Flavor has merlot and roasted grains. Flavor is more vinous character and more roasted malt, with almost a popcorn taste but not quite there. Some salt. Good palate, but not especially good for the style.

Black and thick palate. Roasty, Guinness-like aroma. Tall but short lived brown head. Flavor is too sweet for the style, but there is roasted malt. Cut down on the sweetness and this will be at the top of its class. Dry, popcorn flavor in the finish.
