Crystal clear amber coloured body with copper tints and a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of malt, funk, cardboard, some pit fruit anda bit of caramel. Light-bodied; Assertive acidic quality up front showing tart off-flavours and a bit of the malt. Aftertaste still sharp due to the wierd flavours, not pleasant at all! Overall, not good at all, compared to other beers! A let down to say the least! I sampled this 16 ounce bottle purchased at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York on 31-July-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Clear golden colour with a light off-white head and bright tints of orange. Aroma of coriander seed, hops, wheat and a light spice-more like a wheat than a bock! Medium-bodied; Tart initial taste with some hops and large floral tastes. Long fresh taste finishing dry, showing the hops. Overall, a nice beer-a deviation from the norm, but definitely worth trying if you can find it! Hazy orange coloured body with blonde coloured highlights and a small white head. Aroma of corn, curacao, coriander seed and honey. Medium-bodied; Light funky wheat flavour up front with some sugars and a bit of βnormalβ tastes. Aftertaste clean from the other flavours with little else-not a strong showing at all! Overall, nice to try-but overall, a bad offering. Stick to some other beers from this brewery and bypass this one. Draft, served at the Berghoff, no less, in Chicago. A good thin hefe head with a nice lace. Body is suitably cloudy, like a lemon peel. Nice spice and lemon notes, or maybe that was the smell of the lemon slice they stuck on it. Still, very clean and refreshing, nothing to jump out and bite you, but an ideal lawnmower beer.

Malt aroma. Light red appearance. Flavor of sweet fruit. High abv is not noticeable in the taste. Lightly spiced. An ok effort but needs more balance and less sugar.

Thanks to CaptainCougar for this fine trade! Deep mahogany ringed with ruby at the edges which supports a creamy large mocha colored head. Coffee like bitterness at first which becomes more roasty as it passes the tongue. Just enough underlying sweetness to balance the bitter notes nicely. Refreshing and smooth. Very enjoyable.

Pours a nice amber color. Aroma is malty. Flavor is a very bitter hoppyness. NIce malts used in this one. A good beer for a nice spring day.

Finally found this interesting lager. Pours dark but (barely) translucent red-brown with a thin light tan head. Very caramely and bready/yeasty aroma. Toasty, roasty flavor profile with caramels and breads mixing with a touch of dark chocolate. Very yeasty. A creamy lager reminiscent of bready maibocks.

Draft Another beer served at Chicago's downtown Christmaskindlmart. This has a good full amber color under a thin head. Nice and sharp hop spice flavor sets it apart from others in this style. Very little else with the name "Amber" stuck on it is this tasty. Holding a swallow in my mouth excites both the sweetness and bitter portions of my tongue. Very nice, and sharper when served cold.

Draft. Among the pale pilseners at the downtown Chicago Kristkindl market is a keg of pale pilsener's evil twin. Pours with a hearty brown head over a body that looks solid black in a plastic cup, then shows brown highlights as I drink it. Kind of a black bread smell thatβs not as prominent as a stout. Definite dark roast malts against a German hop profile. Leaves a taste at the back of the palate where bitterness and astingency are detected. Roast coffee taste, perhaps a note of pear, subdued by its "clean" lager finish. Brings up a bit of a burnt toast taste toward the end that may not be to everyone's liking, but I like its complexity.
