2003 Bottle. Deep orange with some brown/tan hues. Clear and bubbly. Head is small and white, good amount of lacing. Aroma is of some sweet mellow fruit, earthy malt and a touch of alcohol. Beer begins with a big lightly sweet caramel malt flavor that is lightly roasted. Medium-full body that holds up very well. No thinning or wateriness. Some sweet fruit flavors come out (light apricot/pear). But my favorite part was the hops that begins subtle and finishes with a magnificent balance that adds a nice amount of spiciness, and a touch of bitterness. Good mouthfeel, big and bubbly. My favorite oktoberfest to date probably. Still would like to see some sediment and more head. A bit reserved in malt flavor, could use some more. Slightly dry and grainy towards end. Bet this would be great on tap.

I like this one...even though it was best by April 2003 and here it is, November. A malt dominated IPA...I'd like to try some other samples(Kind of reminded me of a Fuller's product)of this style even though I'm a natural born hophead. :^)

Mild aroma of roasted malt. Aroma seems to have an "off" chemical element. Black of course, with some red. Large head. Flavors of medium bodied roasted malt with some sweetness.

Lots of hops in the aroma as well as fruit. Great appearance with a huge cream colored head. The beer is a great amber color. The sweetest ipa I have had, also flavor of hops and wood. Bitter aftertaste. This bottle was 4 months past the exp. date.

Dark brown colour with ruby highlights and a think light brown head. Nice powerful aroma of a crazy complxity: hops, grapes, roasted malt, yeast & bread. Light-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours, hints of coffee with the yeastiness & slight sweetnesspicked up in the nose. Aftertaste bittered from the roasted malt & coffee flavour. Overall, an odd beer that turns out to be nicely complex, but still be on for the style! Definately one to try! I got this in a trade from CaptainCougar in sixteen ounce form. Thanks again Tom!

Draft Looks like there's a lot more variety in Okto beers than any style definition can contain, especially when American brewers are involved. Sprecher offers a nice dark complexion with a good roasty malt character. This, in turn, counterbalances the usual sweetness of an Okto, leading it to a dry finish. Still, the mouthfeel comes in a little thinner than expected, but a good effort.

Aroma of wheat and citrus. Cloudy with lots of carbonation. Citrus flavors, and a pleasant mild wheat taste. Not as much spice and fruit aroma/flavor as I would like. Light on the palate and refreshing. Inexpensive for the style; enjoyable.

I would have guessed this to be a stout or a porter, but a dark lager? Never. The head is tan and frothy, and the aroma is roasty and chocolately. The flavor is quite malty and complex, with intense roasted/smoke flavors, caramel, coffee, licorice, and some others I can't quite identify. If all schwarzbeirs were like this, I'd be trying them a lot more often.

This is the first brewery I've seen that actually sells its beer in pints, so I had to get a few of their beers. This is a decent stout, but not complex enough to be a true imperial. It's a little overly sweet, but in an artificial way; it kind of tastes like black coffee with too much sweet and low added to it. The finish carries qualities of aspartame as well, but with some slight licorice notes. A decent try, but it falls just a little short.
