Bottled. Golden colour, fizzy head. Very light grass aroma. Medium bodied and medium sweet with some very light buttery malt. Low bitterness. If anything it is more similar to a dortmunder than a märzen, but the use of maize is heavily noticable. Still it’s free from off-flavours and has some positive aspects, making it one of the more worthwile commercial products in South Africa.

Can - the license version brewed by Tanzania breweries. Almost black with a rusty tint. Virtually no head. Dark coffee aroma and notes of roastiness. Roasted flavour supported by notes of milk chocolate and cocoa added some hints of liquorice. Bittersweet aftertaste. Medium palate. Almost like a Norwegain Yule beer (Thanks to Yngwie for this one)(shared with Finn, 21.11.2007).

Can. (brewed by Tanzanian Breweries) Clear, deep brown pour, with a tan head. Chocolate and coffee aroma, but a bit weak. Nice though. The flavor is quite roasted, but also chocolate and coffee plays a significant role, and there’s also some sweetness in it. It finishes rather roasted. A medium-bodied, quite nice and quaffable beer. Bottle. Pale golden body with a white head. Malt with notes of hops in aroma. Flavor has some malt and hops, more than any of the other lagers from SAB. Watery body, but refreshing and drinkable.

Bottle. Pale golden body with a white head. Vague malt aroma, fruity. Watery, light body with a short finish. A little hint of something unpleasant in the aftertaste, best described as a slightly hint of sewer.

This is just not very nice. It really doesn’t look like real beer and it definitively don’t taste like real beer. It’s like a watered version of the regular Castle Lager (a thin enough brew itself) with extra carbonation.

Can. Pale golden body with a white head. A little malt flavor in the aroma and actually traces of hops. Flavor is just another refreshing, thin watery lager with just almost enough malt and hop to finish the bottle/can. It’s OK, but noting special.

340 ml can (Tanzania Breweries license). Almost black body with a creamy beige head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavor is malty with roasted notes, milk chocolate and a little hint of caramel as well as bitter notes. Medium body, creamy and surprisingly easy drinkable, a bit sweet and one dimensional in the finish. A welcoming break from all the insignificant lagers found everywhere in Tanzania.
