Description
Cross Borders’ origins trace back to an illicit biscuit cartel run by our two founders in primary school. This brewery IS THE RESULT OF YEARS OF friendship, HARD WORK, EXPERIENCE, AND a refusal to grow up. Based in leafy midlothian we brew braw beer you’ll want to drink again and again (responsibly of course).

Keg at Craftsman Company. It pours jet black with a small beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred wood, fragrant, floral, bubblegum, parma violets and some spice. The taste is dry, bitter, rich roasted malt, charred, cocoa, toasted pine needles, parma violets, charred wood, ash, umami, orange peel, orange blossom and some peppery spice with a drying finish. Medium+ body and moderate, dense carbonation. Rich and flavoursome. Plenty to it.

The taste is dry, pretty bitter, pithy, zesty, floral, orange blossom, floury bread, minerals, tangerine, stone fruit, peppery spice and earth with a drying, citric finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Decent.

Can from Cork & Cask. Dark brown body with a thick beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of blueberries, liquorice and ash. Flavour of sharp cranberry and a woody/chocolatey quality. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A tasty beer but I’d have loved a bit more depth from the malt.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at Royal Mile Whiskies. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Dry citrus peel in the nose, orange, some pale grains. Light sweet flavour, dry and flinty, some grass, flinty minerality, hay, a little astringency. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry finish, quite bitter, some pine needles, grass, more dried citrus peel, more mellow astringency and flinty notes. So so overall.
