Bottle at Taps. Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear reddish brown with a broken white head. The aroma is malty with a hint of toffee. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a metallic edge and some smooth maltiness on the palate. It’s not a bad beer, but not as good as the commercial description would have you believe!

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a crystal clear light yellow colour with a white frothy head. The aroma is malty, but a little on the weak side. The flavour is medium bitter, hoppy and a little zesty. It’s a refreshing beer no doubt and that hoppy bitterness was very evident on the palate. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to drink it again, but I’d be happy if this beer was my saviour on a hot summer day sometime in the future.

Opaque black beer, decent sized tan head. Pleasant nose - dark malts and a little Port! Palate is light and has mild fine carbonation. Mild dark malt, but paradoxically rich. A whisper of coffee and trace amount of hops in the dry finish. Not bad.

Smallish brown head. Opaque black body. Earthy funky chocolatey aroma with spicy wooden roasted sugar notes. Sweet-acidic earthy funky chocolatey taste with vinegary wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-acidic spicy wooden vinegary aftertaste with chocolatey earthy funky sooty notes. I don’t think it’s meant to be this way, but the effect is not bad, kind of like a stout saison. (0.64l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)

A fruit basket of aromas gives way to smoke, cigarettes, citrus, resin and coffee. The taste is fascinating, with lots of grapefruit, licorice, resin, and coffee to mention a few. There are a lot of flavours in here and the only real knock on it is that the palate is a little thin, but hey - it’s a beautiful looker, all deep black with a tan head.

Bottle. Clear gold with a white head that settles to a fat coat. Aroma of sweet oranges, banana, coriander, pepper. Very sweet with oranges, banana, peaches, dough. Bitterness is there to balance. Alcohol is not obvious at all (so much so that I checked the bottle to see whether it had changed). Lowish carbonation with creamy texture. Sweetness does not hang around too long - dries out a bit with modest spice notes. All very mellow and enveloping.

Bottle. Muddy brown beer with a strong fizzy head. The aroma is bitter and yeasty, and the flavour is also bitter and yeasty with some vanilla. Overall a nice quite standard bitter with some yeasty and wateryness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
