Bottle from Ølbutikken. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are citrus, fruits, pine, hops and malt. Easy drinkable, but a little too carbonated that disguises the very pleasant taste.

Pours dark amber with a fading head.Nose shows hefty crystal malt along with massive tangerine and toasty characters.More tangerine and caramel as flavours. A fairly assertive bitterness in the finish but the malt wins out.Body feels syrupy.

(Bottle) Slightly hazy golden with good white head. Aroma of spice, caramel and a hint of funk. Full bodied, almost sticky with nice full smooth carbonation. Flavour starts with a spicy dryness, then develops a rich and over sweet fruitiness which mellows somewhat for a finish of candy with a hint of bitterness. It’s a pretty decent strong ale but it doesn’t quite hang together properly, in particular the sweetness is too cloying.

From a 640ml bottle on 28/11/2012. Pours a very dark brown with a medium head. Has a relatively light but pleasant aroma featuring sweet dark fruit (prunes) and a dash of piney hops. Fantastic flavours greet you when you take a sip. You get typical IPA citrus fruits, along with some dark fruit, chocolate, a little espresso, toffee and a touch of licorice. Finishes with a medium to firm hop bitterness, with some distinct roasty notes. This is a very nice black IPA. Mountain Goat are getting quite good at delivering quality hop driven brews.

Pours dark copper with a fading head.Nose shows heavy caramel and bready melanoidin malt. Also some spicy notes.A fair bit of rich sweet malt as a flavour, very sweet. Some spicy hops, bitterness and booze in the finish but not quite managing to tame the sweetness.Carbonation seems a little full on.

You’re right, @pyobon - word is that this is the rare breed IPA (according to Crafty Pint, I think) and it is now a permanent part of the Mountain Goat range. Definitely wrong to class this as an APA. The aroma is grapefruit and pine with a little honey and sawdust. It has a very dry palate and the taste skews heavily in flavour of the hops with little malt to speak of. On the other hand, it has impressive length with the citrus flavours reaching all the way down my throat. A great option on a Summer day.

Pours gold with a small fading head.Nose shows floral and spicy hops along with a bit of grapefruit. Also some honey and light malt.Flavours follow along the same lines, more spicy hops and perhaps a little grapefruit. Nice biscuity malt. Pretty easy drinking.Could use a bit more carbonation.
