(bottle) Poured cloudy amber with a big beige head. Wonderful hop aroma - floral and tropical fruity. Full bodied with excellent plentiful carbonation. The flavour strikes a lovely balance of interesting malts and hoppy bitterness. There’s tangy fruit at the start developing body and richness with a hint of spice leading to a good bitter finish. Overall an excellent and different beer giving an extra dimension to the typical hop-centred IPA.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Cloudy deep blond color. The aroma is a bit hop-fruity, and yeasty. Decent toffee flavor, quite dry, with strong bitterness and some hop resins, some bitter orange too; cardboard. Easy, messy.

Bomber. Black with lace. Great nose of chocolate, pepper, and very savory--like pork grilled in rosemary and balsamico. Salty, savory flavor as well, with fruity chocolate, berries and pepper, citrus hop. A nice, thick, rich body. The nose is fascinating and original. Great stuff.

Pours black with brown highlights and a large, light tan head.Nose shows tropical fruit (passion fruit, lychee), honey, roasted malt, coffee and a peppery note. Interesting.Similar flavours: roasted malt, peppery notes, pine, resin, coffee. The peppery note provides an interesting spin.Could use a bit more carbonation.

43cl on tap (6,2%) at Taps Beer Bar, KL. Clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits (passion), malt and caramel. Sweet and fruity with a nice lightly bitter finish. Very refreshing after a long day in the heat in Kuala Lumpur. Decent IPA! (2012-05-04)

From a 640ml bottle on 14/5/2012. Pours very dark, not far off black, with a medium tan head. Has an unusual aroma of dark berries, hops and a touch of raspberry cordial. The flavour is similarly unusual but highly impressive. I’ve never heard of a pepperberry but I assume that this is what gives this it’s distinct fruity, peppery kick. There are distinct grapefruity IPA notes, along with some roasty bitterness. Works beautifully because the contrasting flavours are strong but kept in check. Given Mikkeller’s involvement, I’m not entirely surprised about how good this is. A cracking drop and a truly unique experience.

Bottle, 10C. Clear dark brown with a large light tan head that laces well. Aroma of cocoa, grass, lemon, lychees, pepperberries - although maybe I’d have guessed pepper and juniper blind. Creamy texture. Taste has tropical fruits (lychees, guava,), and a little cocoa, dry finish with firm bitterness and the spicy and slightly woody bite of pepperberries. Complex and lovely finish, but it overshadows what comes before a bit - although the fruits assert themselves a bit more as it warms. A rampaging beast of a beer.
