330ml bottle from Deguchiya. Poured into an English tulip pint. Copper color with a soapy but modest head. Toffee, malt, papaya and other fruits on the nose. Medium body. Well balanced with nice sweet caramel malt flavors that pair well with the resiny hops. Nice bitter finish. Solid IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Minoh W-IPA on 12 May 2015 at 19:15 - Score: 7

Pours pale, whitish, hazy but does not seem rich but quite thin. Foam top comes nice, stays for a bit. Aroma has wet wheat, cloves, banana. Usual weizen, not worse, not better. Taste has some enticing spicyness, cloves and body is fuller than it looks. Drinks well, good with sashimi. Good table weizen.

Pour pitch black, really dark with a nice foamy totally brown head. Looks like a very well brewed nice coffee. Aroma has some nice deep roast, burnt bread and lactose. Lets wait a bit more, when it’s warmer there are probably more nuances. Taste is soft at first, velvety liquid enters the mouth and then starts showing character. Character is roasty, has some dark bitter chocolate, charred toast, a bit of sweetish lactose. I am not getting much fruitiness and the sweet sensation is also short, giving way to longer charred roastiness. Good example of an imperial stout, very well brewed.

huge roasted malt, coriander and Yuzu nose. The wit is really over powering but balances nicely with the stout. Smooth body.

Minoh Imperial Stout barrel-aged on cask at the Beer Belly + Qbrick Strong Beer Event. 10%+ (staff unsure of ABV - possibly Heaven Hills barrels). this beer is a deep black with a cork like beige head. The palate is good but the W-IPA is much fuller & creamier. It has a lovely soft chocolate & mild roasty coffee, some cream + light bourbon. It is a better marriage of beer & barrel than the W-IPA. Rich chocolate, oak, vanilla, cream, roast coffee - terrific. Wow after a bit of time I got some fantastic smokey caramel from it! Possibly the best Minoh I’ve ever had, high ABV but easy drinking.

Minoh W-IPA barrel aged on cask 10% + the staff seemed unsure of the ABV (no one checked) aged in Heaven Hill barrels apparently. It is a cloudy ruddy amber with a filmy beige head. A warm woodsiness, soft whiskey & rich maltiness in the nose. A full rich creamy texture, an amazing mouthfeel. The taste is a rich bourbon milkshake, seriously fantastically creamy the taste is woody with a touch of green pine boughs. Deliciously warming. Very well made but best for bourbon lovers.

Tap at Komachi. Brilliant hazy gold with a low head. Nose of strong honey, lemon, a bit chamical. Very sweet and honeyish flavor, a bit thin. Not so impressive or enjoyable.

Session Honey Wheat Ale on tap at Molto Stand. 4.5% 580 yen for 260ml. A cloudy light straw gold with an eggshell white head of foam. A nice nose of wheat, honey and some tangy fruitiness. The taste is pretty good earthy white, some light malt crackery notes, honey & tangy fruits. Quite pleasant but an odd release for winter. Give it a shot if you see it on tap. It seems to be a limited brew made to commemorate a Minoh staffer’s wedding only available in kegs - I saw 5% ABV listed online as well as 又の名を「ハニーズマリッジブリュー」Honey’s Marriage Brew- Hops listed as Saaz, Nelson Sauvin and made with Wakayama honey.
