Near black with a frothy beige head. Coffee is obviously the main player in the aroma. Some sweet, roasted malts, light molasses, and chocolate. Very, very smooth mouth. Roasted coffee beans, light chocolate, and everything else is pretty well masked. Having said that, it wasn’t all that intense of a coffee flavor. Muted just enough to remain very drinkable. I really enjoyed this one.

Hazy golden color, light bananas and cloves in the nose, with only a slight hint of smoke. A touch of smoke and sourness in the mouth, but otherwise a fairly straightforward weisse. Dry light smokey finish.

Draught at Thrash Zone, Yokohama Cloudy amber, small head. Lots of toffee, some chocolate. Hops are remakable subtle for a DIPA. Grapefruit is absent, instead there is apple and caramel. In present shape a thoroughly unimpressive beer.

Draught at Thrash Zone, Yokohama (as Minoh Espresso Stout). Completely black with small beige head. Rich and wonderful chcolate and coffee aroma. Mid sweet with above medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Plenty of coffee dropped on a velvet carpet. Milk chocolate and espresso linges as it slowly fades out.

Draught at Craft Beer Bar, Yokohama. Hazy straw colour, small head. Careful caramelly banana starts it off. Beechwood smoke grows ever stronger, yet it remains balanced. Soft and fairly sweet. Medium bodied with notes of cookie malt. The vague notes of rubber are easiy forgotten with so much delight surrounding it.

Bottled at pre-RBJG festivities in Kyoto. Black as night, rich beige head. Chocolaty salty nose. Dryish with dense full body. Lots of tobacco and salty licorice, like a dough made up from salmiak. Lingering salty bitterness. Contains all you can ask for in a well made Imperial Stout.

Draught at McGloughlin’s. Glowing yellow color. Cloudy with a fine head. Lovely. Smoke character dominates the aroma, though not strong. Also wheat malt, bananas and clove. Light smoke flavor, with good wheat malt, bananas and cloves. On the sweet side. Very nicely done.
