In 2016 Carlsberg sold a 59% share of Carlsberg Malawi Limited (CML, previously The Bottling and Brewing Group Limited) to Castel Group. As part of the agreement, the Group has agreed a license agreement with CML to continue to produce and sell Carlsberg in Malawi.

Bottle shared with Beerhunter111, Koelschtrinker & Zlotta. Country #175. Smooth grainy beginning. watery but grainy in the aroma. Sessionable, quite good for a pale lager. Refreshing, hints of grain, not too sweetish.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle, best before August 2017, thanks Nils. Clear, very pale golden with a thin white layer. Sweetish, slightly grassy, musty aroma of grains, straw and some barnyard. Moderately sweet, slightly grassy taste of grains and straw, followed by a short, just slightly bitter, a bit grassy finish. Thin body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The aroma is not very inviting, but it tastes better than expected.

Bottle shared with Zlotta and Koelschtrinker. Country no. 173. Klare hell goldgelbe Farbe, geringe weiße schaumkrone. Geruch ist pappig malzig, getreidig malzig. Geschmack ist getreidig hell malzig, pappig, muffig.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a short-lived white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of dried apricot, grass and honey. Flavour of watery grain, copper and orange peel. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. Better than I was expecting but I wouldn’t choose to have another.

Bottle from Peoples, Chitakale. Clear golden body with a fluffy white head. Lively fizz. Light lacing. Aroma of steel and sour grain. Flavour of grass and a trace of hops. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Quite astringent but not bad after a day of 35 degrees heat.

Bottle from Peoples, Chitakale. Clear golden body with a short-lived white head. Low carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of grassy hops, teaspoon and Ricicles cereal. Flavour of papery malt and grass. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. The hops are just about detectable. Bland but drinkable.
