Black coloured, medium to big tan head, chocolate malty nose. Roasted malt and dark chocolate taste with few fruity hints. Strong bitter chocolate finish and lingering bitter aftertaste. Very nice brew, like light imperial stout.

0.75 fliptop bottle.at Tolkien’s Pub, Zagreb, shared with ogivlado Now this was a first... a new Irish beer and I’m the first to add it. Cool. Poured a nice opaque black (very dark red) body with a medium to big sized thick tan head that went away slowly (cascade effect I reckon). A strong roasty malty nose, some orange dipped in dark chocolate, and a light hopiness to round it up. The taste is somewhat light and not terribly complex but it’s very nice anyway. A bitter earthy roastiness, chicory, dark chocolate & orange again, more pronounced, close to a good imperial stout in taste, but with a lighter body (obviously) and much more drinkable than most. Nicely balanced. I quite liked this one. So much better than their regular stout (not to mention red). I’d buy this more often if I had it readily available.

Aroma of very dark roasted malt. Black color with ruby hilites at the edges. The tan head struggled, but collapsed and filmed. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is really smooth toasted, nigh burnt, malt. There is malt sweetness, roasted bitter, and I think hop bitter. It finishes rather dry, with that strong roast persisting on and on. There might be a touch of smoke. A very flavorful drink.

Bottle at home... Deep black ... very little nose ... rich roast malts a tough too burnt and a bit bitter, bit some chocolate and deffinite roast coffee.Cask at GBBF ...3.6

Bottle. Sweet toffee malt aroma. Red amber color with small head. Toasted caramel malt flavor with a light bitter finish. Nice toasted malt aftertaste.

bottle - Pours near black with a one finger tan head and a decent roast aroma. The flavor is rich roast malt and coffee. The body is medium to full and finishes moderately bitter. It’s a pretty solid stout.

Aroma is caramel, yeast and floral. Brown color with ruby hilites. Beige head that lacked retention. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is malt, floral, almost chocolate notes. The finish is low level roasted malt and a very light bitter. Drinks very well.

Bottle: Poured a clear burgundy color ale with a big foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of medium sweet malt is somewhat bland. Taste is a mix between some medium sweet malt with some notes of caramel and mild fruity yeast. Body is about average with some average carbonation.

This ale poured a dark red colour with a tan rocky head. To the nose you could smell scents of sugary malts, beef gravy and caramel. First taste was thin and watery with flavours of very light malt and mineralized water. Slight metallic flavour, not bad but there. The finish is thin and malty but thats about it. Not bad but lacking in flavour depth. Ther palate is malt and thats it.
