Description
After 700 years, the Aktienbrauerei is the last representative of the Kaufbeurer brewing tradition that started in 1308 under the name "Zur Goldenen Traube". The brewery has been owned by the Walch family since 1799. At its current location, the beer cellar was built in 1807, and the company was converted into a stock corporation in 1885. This made the Kaufbeuren stock brewery one of the first stock companies in Bavaria. In the second half of the 19th century, the brewery was the most important brewery in the city.

(Red labelled) bottle from Co-Op, Mytchett. Aroma combines citrus with biscuity malts and yeast. Light gold. Thick fluffy foamy white head. Medium bitter. Has a bite. Citrus edge. Smooth not overly sweet yeasty doughy malts into finish. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. Hits the spot on a hot day.

Keg at the Railway Tavern, Kelvedon. Bright clear gold beer, good white head. Palate is crisp but not overly so for Keg. It's semi dry as well. Nice clean malts, sweet but not too sweet. Reasonable level of hoppage, light and mildly ripe citrus and touches of pine and floralness. Light semi dry finish. A tidy and drinkable lager.
