11.2 oz. clear bottle bought at Total Wine - Melbourne, FL. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a tight white head and good retention. Virtually no lacing. Sweet corn malt aroma. Sweet corn malt flavor to match the nose. Lightly crisp mouthfeel. Very clean and smooth. A little less grainy than your average macro lager. Good.

Noticed this bottle at my local Métro store. Pretty sure last year they had a nice bottle, but was the same old Stella. This time, 6.5% ABV. Cork and cage. Pours a light golden colour with a creamy-frothy white cap, kind of warm, with good retention and some creamy thick lacing. The bubbles look smaller. A little skunk in the nose, but not much. Slightly richer cereal malts. Refreshing mouthfeel, but a little heavier than the regular Stella. Still, a decent pils-like hoppy finish. I don't mind this one to celebrate the end of 2018.

Pours a hazy pale yellow-lime color, toppe dwith no real head to speak of. Mild fruity aroma, and very sweet, sugary fruity taste. No beer-like qualities to be noted, really. Not even a radler.

Designer drink in between lemonade and beer rather than a real beer, already developed in the nineties by Labatt but now produced by AB InBev. Called a ’malternative’, this drink is purely marketing and represents the beery one in a series of lemonade-like alcopops (which got a lot of bad attention later for allegedly leading youngsters to alcohol). Loose, unstable foam, colour a lemonade greenish. Very sweet and very artificial, lemonade-like taste with loads of sugar and ascorbic acid, lemon extracts as well, no finish. It feels weird to rate this as a ’beer’ because although made from malt and even (indiscernible) hops, there is litterally nothing beery about this anymore; for me this belongs to the fringes of what can still be called beer, which makes it at least philosophically interesting. Was tested on the Belgian market some years ago and fortunately I haven’t come across it since.

A reddish brown schwarzbier with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt, light corn syrup. In mouth, a sweet watery mess, reminiscent of other Argentina darks, cloying and not good. Bottle from Mercado Economico, Colonia, UY.

Bought in Albania. Muffig herb-würziger Antrunk, dessen Aromen sich im Mittelteil kaum anders verhalten. Muffig, billig, trocken, irgendwie einfach falsch, dabei dürftig und billig hellmalzig. Etwas herber Ausklang. /4/4/4/6/4

Originally rated May 2010. I forgot this brew in my fridge because I waited for the right moment to test it. Comes in a Champagne looking bottle. Tried it in a Champagne glass at first and then rated it in a lager glass. Pours a yellow-golden colour with a big white creamy head that stays a long time and leaves decent lacing. The cork lists 7 (then a cymbol) and 11. The best before date says 07.09.08. The nose is warm with alcohol and the malt is grainy with hints of honey and bananas. Creamy mouthfeel but still not much stickiness. The higher alcohol percentage does not burn. The flavours reminds me of the aromas, with grainy malts, notes of bananas, alcohol, mild hops and a metallic touch. This is like a creamier and stronger Stella Artois, but still nothing too amazing (or close to Champagne - even with the bubbles). Was nice to celebrate the 640th anniversary of Stella (which will never happen again... ha, ha).
