Description
Hey! Welcome to Urban Roots. We’re here because we love people and beer. We wanted to make beer and create a space to show that love to the world. Our place has plenty of room for people to hang out and enjoy one another, some super fresh beer and some really tasty food. Urban Roots started when Rob and Peter decided it was time to open the brewery they’d been dreaming of for a long long time. They wanted a place where they could express their love for the industry they’ve been a part of for so long. With Urban Roots they hope to pay homage to all of the wonderful people they have met on their journey. People that showed them amazing beer and maybe more importantly showed them a good time.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated May 12, 2020. Aroma is fairly hop forward with lots of mango, tropical citrus, orange, grapefruit, stone fruit and berry notes. Lighter dank, resin and pine notes. Moderate cracker malt notes with hints of biscuit and caramel. Hints of alcohol spice. Pours a fairly clear, golden orange with a medium large, thick, pillowy white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers on the edges. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderate cracker malt notes and lighter notes of caramel and biscuit. Moderately strong bitterness and light alcohol spice. Moderately strong hop notes that are citrus and resin forward with lighter passion fruit, mango and berry notes. Some lingering bitterness into the finish, but it's not super assertive. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice West Coast IPA that has a bit more malt character and a strong bitterness that doesn't stretch over into testing your limits for IBUs. Well balanced and fairly drinkable for the ABV.

Fairly strong hop notes of mango, passion fruit, tropical citrus, orange and dank, resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Poured from a 16 oz can dated March 23, 2020. Aroma is hop forward with moderate hop notes of orange, grapefruit, and tropical fruit with some dank, resin, pine notes as well. Light cracker malt notes and hints of alcohol. Pours a hazy, dull, murky, golden orange with a fairly large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Fairly high lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light cracker malt notes. Moderate bitterness and light alcohol spice. Fairly strong hop notes of orange, tangerine, pineapple and dank, resin, pine notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty solid DIPA. The hop aroma has likely degraded a bit in the 6 weeks since it was canned but the flavor was great.

16 ounce can. Pours a hazy bright orange hue with a small white head. A big funky tangerine nose. More rich funky layers of citrus, soft perfume, a slightly tangy bit, pungent, passionfruit, mango. Solid.

Not quite the juice bomb I was expecting, instead coming across very dry and spicy, with undertones of peach rings and passionfruit, but also giving up a lot of grapefruit pith, pine, white pepper, and resin. Finishes with a lengthy mineral bitterness laced with herb and wood shavings. Mild hop burn mars the feel. Wouldn't call this a Galaxy showcase, but it does make for an interesting pint.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated February 3, 2020. Aroma is very hop forward and fruity with lots of stone fruit, tropical citrus, mango, passion fruit, and guava. Light cracker malt notes and a hint of alcohol spice. Pours a fairly clear, gold color with a medium large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers a bit thicker on the edges. Moderately high lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with medium light cracker malt notes and a hint of caramel. Strong, assertive bitterness with moderate hop and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong notes of tropical fruit, grapefruit and citrus with some faint stone fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a great West Coast IPA. It still has the assertive West Coast bitterness, but it also has a ton of fruity hop notes, especially in the aroma.
