This is a 12 oz bottle from Half Time bought earlier in the year. I have a snifter from ABGB ready to receive the pour and determine a dark copper-amber body finished by a thin cover of silver-tan foam. The nose presents as scorched grain, molasses and perhaps some dark fruit. A drink gives baked bread, some caramel, malt and plums. Considerably thinner than the doppelbocks I have appreciated in the past. Decent but not much above average in the style.

Tap at brass tap wanted to swing by and see what this is place is about. light hazy yellow orange tinged. . Grass and green apple and pine and apricots. On nose and taste. Light bodied.

Hazy pink red with a large pink head that left good lacing. Dry and tart with a berry note. Long finish. Medium body.

12 oz bottle from Wegmans. Shiny black with a low tan head. Nutty nose, chocolate, graham crackers, caramel and light cafe au lait. Medium sweet, dark chocolate, coffee, biscuits, peanut, strong bitterness. Silky, not heavy.

Plastic pint draft at MacGregor's in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The pour is a mostly clear golden yellow with a bunch of carbonation bubbles that build up a small white foam head. The aroma is leafy resin hop, pine, and light caramel malt. The taste is clean fresh hop leaf, earth resin with floral and finishes with more grain and bitter resin. The palate is medium bodied, active carbonation and the dry mineral resin hop finish. Nice fresh hop beer.

Can from JR's for a buck off the clearance rack. Looks like rootbeer with very little if any head. Nose is hints of mild chocolate. First taste is quite rude; its bitter malt and just maybe a hint of chocolate on the aftertaste. Not real good. To call this a chocolate brew is quite misleading. And who can find the cherries and sweet cream attributes? Totally missing. Actually it seems like its the mad elf, with some dark coloring added. Then they threw in a couple of cocoa beans in there so they could say it was chocolatised. Yep they fooled me on this one. Even my better half, who likes chocolate beers couldn't handle this mess. After having the mad dreams, which was rather tasty and enjoyable, this stuff is an utter disappointment. Maybe I shouldn't compare the two? But they both used mad elf as the base substrate. Glad I only spent a buck on this bomb of a tick.

Can for a buck off the clearance rack at JR's. Head fades immediately. Pour is brownish tinged pale and clear. Nose is soft pleasant and neutral, can't really detect much of anything yet. For a 8% beer, this has no warming nor an alky bite, quite smooth for what it is. Yes, I am really surprised of the level of ABV stated on the can. Good level of co2 and near the middle, I'm picking up some light cherry flavor. Well balanced. Seriously, this is just a tad sweet but it goes down so easy it could be dangerous! If I was drinken from a sixpack, I may have tdrank three of these without a blink! Then I'd be catching th little buzzy thing, hehehehh. Good stuff troeggy, this is certainly a well made higher alky brew! Reminds me a some very tasty, well brewed old country tripels I've had in the past! If this is a holiday brew, its one of the better ones I've had in a while.
