Description

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival Essen 2011. Red colored beer, small off-white to beige head. Smell way too much herbs: clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and it tastes about the same: Yuk! Low to medium carbo and body.

33cL stubby bottle purchased at Bierkoning on my Amsterdam trip. BB 8/12/11, consumed in October 2011, so not fresh but should be fine enough for a barleywine. Consumed in my hotel room at room temperature. Poured into a De Molen tuliped copita glass. Pours with a very small head. Color is a dark orange glowing copper. Too dark to see through the beer. The pour looks a bit slick. I see this beer is a wannabe of Bigfoot. In this case the beer is a little old or just bad. Either way it should be better. The beer has muddled hops with sweet barleywine hops behind it. Its just not good, the base barleywine is too fusel and sweet. This was a big let down. I wish I could have gotten the cool label we have on the site but even the label was a letdown.

12oz pour is a watery, opaque black with a creamy, lacing white head. Flavor is sweet, cherries, malt, molasses, brown sugar, pitted fruits, light smoke. Nose is sweet, fruity, malty, light booze. Full bodied, fruity finish.

Bottle @ home, shared with DutchDrebus. Unclear brown / amber color, small off-white head. Nice some kind of fruity smell. Decent taste and good body and carbo for a beer of only 5.5%ABV.
