16 ounce can. Hazy medium gold pour. Large frothy beige head with clinging lace. Tropical fruit aroma hints at pineapple and passion fruit. Citrusy notes upfront. Lemon, grapefruit, peach and honey. Slightly bitter, herbal notes in middle. Some resiny pine in finish.

16 ounce can. Bright amber reddish color. Frothy beige head with nice lacing. Sweet toasted malt aroma. Sweet toasted malt flavor hints at toffee and orange pekoe tea. Medium bodied with just enough hop bitterness to stand Up to the malt bill. The earthy Kent Golding hops offer a silky honeyish finish.

12 ounce can. Barely translucent cola brown color. Frothy tan head. Roasted malt aroma hints at coffee, chili pepper and burnt toast. Roasted malt flavor is overpowered by the Serrano chilis. The earthiness of the peppers dominates the palate from start to finish. The cinnamon and vanilla are barely discernible. Some coffee notes. Too much pepper flavor.

12 ounce can. Opaque black pour. Rock brown head. Roasted malt nose hints at black coffee. Flavor follows nose. Big coffee and chocolate presence. Some sweetness from the marshmallow. Warming alcohol in middle. Bitter hop finish. Flavors become more complex as the brew warms. .

On tap at Hamilton Tap & Grill in Hamilton, NJ. Number one with a bullet. Honey gold pour. Small creamy beige head. Bready toasted malt aroma with tangy fruit notes. Zesty toasted malt flavor upfront. Complex and spicy with honeyish notes. Some warming alcohol in middle. Spicy hops in finish are subdued. Quite a faithful rendition to the Heller Bock style.
