On draft at the Vancouver airport. Pours a dark cola brown with an ecru head. Aromas are vinous with a hint of dank dishwater. Flavors are sour currants and other red pit fruits. Sour, dry finish.

On tap at Ravens, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out dark cocoa, light lactose and toasted malt. Flavour follows suit, with hearty oats, dry cocoa and toasted malt. Reasonably balanced, with a sturdy mouthfeel. Not overly interesting, but decently done.

On tap at Ravens, pours a cloudy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is nearly nonexistent, with light citrus and wheaty notes. Flavour has a little more oomph, with lots of floral and citrus notes dominating. Reasonably structured, with a very light body. Pleasant lavender-like notes on the finish. Meh.

On tap at Ravens, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is essentially nonexistent, with subtle biscuity malt. Flavour is a little more impactful but still restrained, with English hops, light bready malt and seltzery notes. Inauthentic, weak and not overly well-calibrated. Lame.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite hot, with white wine barrels, booze and light candied sugar. Flavour is similarly boozy, with lots of alcohol and white wine barrels, followed by cloyingly sweet fruity esters and candied sugar, showcasing the tragic North American faux-tripel character underneath. The wine barrels make this a little more interesting, but this is a very messy and unconvincing beer overall.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Golden color, clean. Mild aroma of vanilla, barrel aged Chardonnay. Fairly sweet, the alcohol and some malt flavor try to balance the sugars, also some woody astringency; the Tripel character doesn't seem evident, the white wine barrel definitively is. Boozy.
Uncoordinated, but good.

@ 12 Kings. Amber-brown. Toasty malt nose, toasty malt palate. Moderate bitterness. Not really sensing the hybrid aspects of this, but I usually don’t. Nice beer though.
