Cask at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy to cloudy blond color, no head. The white wine barrel and the orange peel are dominating, over some spicy hint from the underlying Saison; the total lack of carbonation doesn’t play positively. Incense and strong for resins in the final; a bit vegetable and astringent too.
Weird, but not bad.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out a very West Coast piney hop quality along with toasted biscuity malt. Flavour has piney hops and toasted biscuity malt, but also some diacetyl which can fuck right off. Not a good example of the style.

Cask - Light and soured herbal notes. Cloudy gold with no head. Very herbal, sour and a long bitter finish. Herbal bitterness is a bit overwhelming.

Draft - Dark sweet chocolate. Jet black with a decent light brown head. Sweet dark chocolate and more like syrup in the finish. Not my thing.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color. The aroma is a bit spicy, malty, also a bit dusty. Lean, quite dry mouthfeel; caramel malts, strong feeling of roasted nuts and dust, some cereal husks, some hop resins, but there is more vegetable character than hop quality.
Not flawed, just a weird concept to start with. Makes you wonder why they made this, what did they expect from it.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a cloudy bright reddish amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out earthy dry hopping upfront, with a toasted dry caramel malt base - smells nothing like an ESB due to the American hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with fairly potent earthy dry hopping upfront, with a robust toasted caramel bready malt backbone. Nicely constructed in that it certainly packs a punch. However, it's bit harsh and incoherent. All in all, good effort but could use some refinement.

Cask - Intense raw Jalepeno. Cloudy dark gold with a small white head. Raw Jalepeno with just enough heat. Decent.

On tap at Ravens, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light-medium sweetness and red apples. Flavour is dryer, with red apples, some apple core and a thorough dryness. One-dimensional but clean and drinkable. It's okay, but nothing much to write about.

On tap at Ravens, pours a clear dull yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of corn, straw and lightly sweet cereal malts. Flavour is along the same lines, with herbal, vegetal notes, corn and straw. Dry enough, with just a lightly sweet cereal quality. Decent but unexciting.

On tap at Ravens, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is very subtle, with light Belgian yeast, not much else. Flavour is robust, with lots of Belgian yeast upfront, followed by lots of spiciness and dry biscuity malt. Some phenols in there too. Strong for the style. Works alright.
