Can from The Gull, North VancouverBlond colour, clean. Mild pine in the aroma, mild pine in the flavour too, with some hay; but overall it comes through as muted and a bit stale, without exciting malt base, or bright hops; mild bitterness too, especially for the style. Meh

Poured from 473mL can. Clear gold with white head. Citrus and mild pine hops. Aroma is better than the taste, but decent, nice to have a new west coast on the west coast.

So back a few years ago Backcountry ran a contest for new beer names. They like to use quotes from comedies, and since they'd never done Friday, I made this quote my entry. And a couple of years later, they used it! Yet, I received not a drop of free beer, not even this sample. I don't want to have to fuck you up, Backcountry. Opaque and pale. Lots of citra on the nose. Soft malts, some hop burn, low bitterness. Ok, there's just too much onion and some structure issues given the lack of bitterness and excessive hop burn. No terpenes feels like a missed opportunity here.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour. Nice aroma of cookies, malt, spices. It's full bodied, sweet; rich flavour, dark sugars, and a generous spice kick (cinnamon, cardamom, chili bite); warming alcohol (it's also not too cold, but I like it like this).
Excellent.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour. Aroma of dark sugars, chocolate, light coconut. Full bodied and smooth; moderate sweetness; chocolate flavour, dark sugars, very light coconut; warming alcohol.
It's good, but not the strongest offering from Backcountry.

473 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with short fizzy tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of coconut. vanilla, chocolate syrup and slick roasted malts. Flavors of same. Sweet. Little, if any barrel character; maybe some oak. Hot finish. I think the non BA is much better.

16oz @ home shared with Alex (thx for the beer!). Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: pretty nice mix of chocolate and coconut, a lot of American oak. Taste: coconut, booze, a bit of meaty notes, moderately sweet. Overall: pretty good, but not as good as Turbo Lover or Keep The Change.

16oz @ home shared with Alex (thx for the beer, man!). Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: loads of spices, nice sweetness, coffee, some vanilla, and booze. Taste: along the same lines, pretty nice balance between coffee and spices. Overall: good one.

473 ml can. Pours a clear gold with light head. Aromas of soapy lime and cereal. Flavors of lime, salty crackers, and cereal. Lime is just right; not overpowering. Easy to drink.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour; small head; the can is overflowing. Aroma of chocolate, mint, light orange. Good body strength, moderately sweet; dark chocolate flavour, a touch of bitter orange, and mildly herbal in the finish (basil).
Not my favourite variant, but overall it's a good beer.
