Description
This team of owner-operators was formed shortly after the group realized they all were after the same thing, just in different parts of the province. Brewer John Folinsbee was planning a brewery in Squamish, industry veteran Marc Roberts had his sights on Vancouver while entrepreneur Ben Reeder and builder Adam Steinberg were looking at brewing in the Cowichan Valley on Reeder’s hop farm. After tasting John’s recipes they decided to go all in and combine forces to build the 6000 square foot brewery, tasting room and kitchen in Squamish.

Flight pour at St. Augustine's. Pours opaque yellow with white head. Aroma has doughy malts, citrus, and pine. Flavour has doughy malts, citrus, stonefruit, pine, dank oils. Mouthfeel is a bit murky and chalky, but not quite egregious. Pretty nice.

Pale with a slight haze. Thin head, fruity nose. Sweet, no real hint of wildness. Maybe light acidity but this didn’t come together. Need more from the sacc trois here.

Hazy, sort of dull orangey colour. Medium head. Light mango…lighter than it usually is in a beer. Mild chile, touch of heat. This is a mellow beery version of a mango hot sauce. Light tartness in the finish.

2024, on tap at the brewery. Opaque, pale, fruity, light pine, citrus, complex hop character with a sage-like note in the finish. Lowish bitterness.

Hazy, pale, slightly dull. Thin head. Big fruity hop aroma and flavour. Light bitterness. Peachy and fresh. Malts are a bit thin, but still this works.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Cloudy to murky pale blond colour, small head. Strong aroma, fruity, with peach, sweet orange, light papaya, and very light dank touch. Dry mouthfeel, but smooth; minimal starch presence, luckily; this is a quite clean base, for a Hazie; good hopping, with plenty of juice, fresh; the mild bitterness is aso associated to some minor hopburn.
One of the better Backcountry Hazies I had in some time, very good.

Light body, grapefruit, mellow stone fruit. Medium body, not much malt character, seems a fair bit less than widowmaker, for sure.

12oz pour at Biercraft. Pours murky dark yellow with white head. Aroma has pineapple and basil. Flavour is very juicy, similar profile. Very little sour. Nice, juicy beer, basil comes through surprisingly well.
