Description
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Some of the best things happen over beer. Ideas are born, friendships forged, deals struck, communities built. That’s how Village Brewery began, friends sharing beers and dreams. Around the table, we had close to a century and a half of brewing experience. One of us was a legendary Canadian brewmaster. Naturally the talk turned to the art and craft of better beer, then to secret sources of malts and hops. By last call we had dreamed up a true community brewery. A brewery that would support Calgary’s artists and craftspeople. A brewery that would create the excellent ales and lagers our friends and neighbors deserve. That talk over beer started the brewery that handcrafted the fine brew you hold in your hand. Please join our table, lift a pint and salute the Village of Calgary. It takes a Village to raise a beer. And a beer to raise a Village.

--Canned, from Systembolaget. -- Hazy golden, mid sized head. Distint perfumy nose with coriander and orange. Mid sweet with light body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity with white bread, lots of coriander and some citrus. Low bitterness.

Can from SB. Slightly cloudy golden with white head. Bubblegum, cloves, wheat aroma. Taste is wheat forward with some cardboard notes, a bit of citrus and dough. Not too shabby.

473ml can. Pours a hazy gold with yeast particles in suspension and a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves thick patches of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, orange, grapefruit peel, earthy yeast and piney hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, orange, peach, earthy yeast and piney hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Enjoyable and tasty. Probably their best offering.

Has murky brown with carbonation bubbles that are too big. Aroma is weak caramel, nothing else. Taste is not bad chocolate syrup, some biscuit, ends a little cloying. Thin but drinkable.

Has good yellow body with some okay foam. Aroma is nice hops, floral and fresh, surprisingly good for low alcohol. Taste is very nice fresh hops, good carbonation and only just a little thin. Still excellent, light years ahead of most beers in this category.

473ml can. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a large, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves thick curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, orange, lemon, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy pale malt, lemon peel, orange, earthy yeast and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing, crushable and pretty tasty, as far as lagers go.

Okay yellow body with modest foam. Aroma is weak grain, watery. Taste is soft sweet hops, ending thin with an odd aftertaste. Quite a miss here.
