Taster at the FH East location. Pours a muddy, brown color, with a small, tan head. The aroma is caramel, lime, rye bread, pineapple, and toast. Sweet and syrupy, with a strange, tart flavor. Light to medium body, with a malty, syrupy mouthfeel. Interesting and mellow.

Half pint at the brewery. Pours black, with a significant, dense, tan head. The aroma is pine sap, mild coffee, resin, dark chocolate, and earth. Not very sweet, with a smooth, assertive bitterness. Medium body, with a syrupy, thick, and astringent mouthfeel. This is a solid and aggressive black IPA.

Sample at the Feast of Saint Arnold. Pours a light, hazy, yellow color, with a small, white head. Strong rose and clove aromas, with some lemon, dust, and vanilla. Sweet and just a little tart. Light body, with an acidic, effervescent feel. This is a nice, spicy witbier.

On tap in a flight at the brewery. Pours a cloudy, orange color, with a medium, cream colored head. The nose is butterscotch, caramel, rye, and straw. Sweet and a bit boozy, with a very soft bitterness. Heavy body, creamy, sticky, clingy, and thick. This is a pretty fun, heavy, and flavorful beer.

On tap at the brewery, in a flight. Clear gold color, with a big, frothy, white head. The aroma is straw, lemongrass, grain, and pretty strong lemon peel. Not that sweet, with a strong bitterness that lingers. Medium body, sticky, creamy, and clingy. This is a nice, hoppy pale ale, but it’s lacking some of the saison character I’d like to see. Nicely dry, but overhopped, in my opinion.

On tap at the brewery in a flight. Black, or maybe very dark brown, with a big, fizzy, tan head. The aroma is harsh, roasty coffee, with some cocoa, walnuts, and powdered milk. Sweet and malty, with a big, roasted bitterness. Medium to heavy body, sticky, and astringent. This is a pretty nice milk stout. Good aroma, and pretty nice balance.

On tap in a flight at the brewery. Pours a nice, clear, copper color, with a medium, beige head. The nose is apples, rye, cloves, roses, and brown sugar. Sweet and malty and sugary, with a light, sharp bitterness. Medium body, crisp, a little acidic, and reasonably clean. This is a solid, interesting, and clean amber ale. Not too shabby.

Sample. Pours a hazy, dark yellow, with a big, bubbly tan head. The nose is herbal and heavy juniper, with a good, sharp rye spice. Sweet and malty, with a mellow bitterness through the finish. Medium body, crisp and a little thin. This is a reasonable rye IPA, but nothing special.

Sample. Light gold color, with a big, bubbly, off-white head. The nose is biscuit, clover honey, mandarin oranges, and some interesting phenols. Sweet and yeasty, with a good dose of bitterness. Medium body, thick, and a little too thick. This is a fun beer, and very heavy for a wheat beer.

Sample. Dark brown color, with a small, beige head. The nose is pine and floral hops, with some good caramel and rye malts. A little sweet and sugary,,with a pleasant bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a nice, chewy mouthfeel. This is a surprisingly balanced, easy, and tasty beer. Wouldn’t have guessed it was gluten free.
