Draft - Sweet roasty caramel with some Berry notes. Clear copper with a decent white head. Sweet caramel malts, spice and some fruity esters. Odd, but interesting.

Flight at brewery. Dark copper color, clear, glowing. Clean, clear lager aroma, just some brown lager malts. Flavor is again superbly clean. Amazingly so. A real nice toasted malt character. The standard too much of hop bite at the end but what does one expect for a Seattle brewer. One of the best lagers I have had in Seattle. Funny thing is that it’s not a lager. So I’m tickled pink.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of piney hops, some light mineraly notes and light crackery malt. Flavour is rather light on the palate, with piney hops, mineral notes, and light residual sweetness. Decently balanced, but not a whole lot of complexity. Good.

1st rater. Light golden color. A little fusel, light lemon nose. Surprisingly not over the top aromatics. Flavor is, thank god, not alcohol or sweet. Its tempered, I don’t believe the abv. Light tropical but mostly lemon hops. Easy going down, low bitterness for style. More like an IPA aside from the light alcohol on the nose.

Sampler at the brewery. Brewer said it was the kolsch with some dark malts added to it. However, its a good deal stronger than the regular kolsch on tap. Either way it was a nice hybrid of the styles. It did not totally taste like a Schwarz nor a Kolsch. Some mild roasted malt aroma and its even more reduced in the flavor. A kolsch-like faint warm fruit but generally just clean and very well attenuated.

Sampler at the brewpub. Most of the beet is in the color, just a deep red/purple hue on a clear beer. Otherwise, its just mainly a slightly dry, moderately bitter pale ale. Has a bit of a gritty lightly earthy flavor as well. Nice stuff but I don’t think it tastes like beets.
