On tap at alefort. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts some ash and little dark chocolate bitter notes. Taste is more of the roast malts ash and some more of the dark chocolate.

Draft at Alefort. Dark black, thin body, scant head. Roasty, aroma, burnt toast. Taste Amps up the bitterness, but could use a little more heft.

Draft at Alefort. Near black pour, small fading beige head. This one’s all about the roast malts, pure and simple.. Sharp, roasty bitterness. Seems thin.

On Tap Black, full tan head. Lots of sharp dark roast. Modest body, and plenty hoppy. Nearing Black IP levels though I would not have guessed 65 IBU Clean finish.

Draft at PreFunk- Nampa. Dark brown, opaque, small ring of head. Faint roast grain aroma. Taste picks up a bit, but is kind of acidic. Normal zone for the style, but it feels off.

Draft @ the brewpub. Light golden orange color with a small cap of white head. Aroma is a bit sweet and fruity, light florals. Sweet with some robust earthy and spicy bits, overall very pleasant to drink.

Draft @ the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roast and light smoke, a bit malty. Taste is robust in roasted and toasted malts, faint smoky bits, and a little bittersweet chocolate. A very good core offering.

Draft @ the brewpub. Had this a few times now, pours a deep chocolate brown with a smaller tan head. Aroma is roasted and toasted malt, light cocoa, and some sweeter underlying tones. Flavor is roasty and sweet. Faint bits of cocoa. Fairly basic, but it reminds me of simpler times when I enjoyed this style more... this is well done and probably won’t get a lot of excitement from those that seek the big, bold, and daring, but I’ll certainly have it again. And again.

Draft @ the brewpub. Unfortunately this has been the only Mad Swede offering that I haven’t cared for… the nose was uninviting, something about it was chalky and dry, just seem off and to block most of the light hoppy bits. Flavor profile was a bit flat, bitters and more of the chalky dryness. Some pine and grapefruit try to come through, but for me it just didn’t jive.

Draft @ the brewpub, my first beer from Mad Swede. Copper orange pour with a finger of beige head. Citrus and floral aroma, moderately sweet. Taste is flavorful of hops, mostly citrus and some florals. More sweet than bitter. Flavorful.
