Nice crisp lager. Golden pour with decent head. Decent grain profile and crisp finish. Better than your average lager. Tap at brewery.

Pale amber, slight haze. Thin head. On the nose, definitely more estery and phenolic than I’d prefer - giving me that bubblegum, sticky stuff I don’t like. On the palate it’s a bit better balanced, light malt, esters more mellow.

Dark brown. No head. The body is pretty weak, but there’s some good malt complexity – a crackery, toasty note and some vaguely toffeeish dark sugars. So being thin is a thing, but there’s many schwarzbiers that are thin. I can live with that. It’s far from perfect but it’s solid enough.

Amber, bright. Thin head. Same crackery malt base but with I guess that’s Sichuan peppercorn? I was looking for pepper…okay well it’s not bad or anything but I don’t get it.

Amber, bright. Thin head. Crackery malt, off-dry, with a touch of floral accents from the honey. Nothing special but it’s not bad.

Medium brown. Very sweet and one dimensional. So really not that exciting. Nothing to latch onto at all.

Hazy, and just a thin head. Sour character, with lots of lime on it. Pretty simple character, but clean and pleasant enough. Almost puckering in the finish.

Dark brown, with a bit of amber. Thin head. It’s really sweet on the palate, without much nuance, or any sign of those 30 IBUs. One-dimensional chocolate syrup sort of thing. Not hitting for me.

It’s got some dull pale brown thing going on, but with a thick head. Lots of bitterness up front, along with toasted malts. Chewy crystal malts and lots of bitterness in the finish. A bit yeasty. Not very refined, and lacks malt complexity. So it’s not the greatest version of a style that requires a lot of dexterity to be effective.

Amber colour, slight haze. Not much head. A moderate bitterness, not a lot of hop brightness, however. So it’s just okay – I don’t mind the bit of chewy malt and the bitterness is spot on, but I would definitely like brighter hop aromatics.
