Grand Armory Brewing is a craft brewery with a focus on high quality, diverse styles of beer. Our taproom opened in July of 2015 at the Armory Building, a 113-year-old historic facility located at 17 S. Second St. in the heart of Grand Haven’s downtown district, just blocks from the waterfront and Lake Michigan’s beaches. The taproom has 20 taps and offers many styles of ales, hand-crafted ciders, old fashioned sodas and wine.

The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of light tan foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Moderate lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of chocolate to coffee with a steady dose of some vanilla bean tones coming in as it warms.
The flavor blends the previously mentioned aromas together to gently slide into the aftertaste and roll right on into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt a tad below than what the brewer projected, seemed there was a just a touch more booziness noted.
Overall, for the most part, this was a pretty good sweet stout noting the espresso portions to enhance the moment.

On tap at Gravity. Pours near black with a thick dark brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a strong sweet peanut butter note with sweet dark grain backing. Flavor is a bit thinner with roasted malts and peanut butter with some dark grains.

Can. Opaque brown-black body, thick, dense light brown head. Nose of peanut butter and roasted malt. Body of delicately sweet creamy peanut butter backed by thin, acidic roast. Cloying finish of sugar and roasted peanuts. A par-for-the-course peanut butter stout.

Growler poured to pint. Medium gold. Medium head. Fresh, citrusy nose. Excellent, balanced palate with slightly sweet citrus and hops. Terrific bitter finish! Definitely one to buy again.

Can. Pours a coppery orange with a finger of fizzy beige head and aromas of yummy toffee and papaya. Flavor is a bit unrefined... almost the slightest hint of sourness covering a grain dust and toffee malt presence and a tingly pine hops finish. It’s not awful, but it could be a little cleaner.
