Pours black with a small tan head. It smells prominently of bourbon along with roast malt and chocolate. The flavor is also fairly heavy on the bourbon. It’s joined by roasted malt and chocolate and is on the sweet side though not terribly so. I enjoyed it as I like bourbon, though I think if the roast malt were heavier and more intense it might be outstanding

Pours amber and smells of caramel, peanuts, and malt. The flavor is sweet with toasted caramel, peanuts, malt, and a little fruity character. Full bodied. It’s pretty sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Enjoyable.

Pours black with a small lingering tan head. It smells of blueberries, roast malt, and chocolate. The flavor is fairly sweet with lots of blueberries. Chocolate malt and roasty character are there too. Full bodied and very good.

This one smells mainly of tangerines with some underlying hop resin. The flavor is pretty sweet with lots of tangerine transitioning to a somewhat bitter, citrus and resin finish. Ehh. It’s okay. Something’s not quite coming together with it though.

This amber ale definitely smells of carrot cake spices. The flavor is of caramel malt and spicy carrot cake with some hops that keep it from being too sweet. Light to medium bodied. Good.

Pours black with a small tan head. It smells of roast malt, chocolate, and strawberries. The flavor is sweet with chocolate, berries, roast malt, and coffee. Full bodied. The berries are very apparent. It could stand to have a darker roast flavor, but I suppose too much could bury the fruit. It’s not my favorite KBD, but it’s very tasty.

This is of course similar to their Maumee river monster, but as expected it’s not as bitter. It’s still quite resinous. There’s some roast malt. Pretty good. I still prefer the original.

This brew pours black with a small tan head. It has a rich aroma and flavors of vanilla, oak, dark roast malt, and coffee with ample hops. Full bodied and excellent.
