This was the "special" offering at Old Boys. Slightly hazy straw-colored body, thin white head. Pear and urine (a savory combination!). The body had the flavor of sweet, slightly rotten fruit (pear and white grape), a bit up front for a Dortmunder, almost reminiscent of a light amber ale.

This brewery brews way too many light beers. I tried seven of their offerings, and four of those were very light and watery. This is one of them. Slightly hazy yellow/straw body, thin off-white head. Light buttery, biscuity aroma. Light fruity body with more diacetyl.

On tap at OB. One of the weaker wheat beers I’ve tried; in fact, it seems likely that wheat doesn’t make up a substantial or even typical portion of the grain bill. The cloudy yellow-orange body is classic wheat beer, yet the flavor was somewhat odd. Fruity and round-bodied with an initially clean yeast flavor, but there was a strange butterscotchy (not really butterscotch, but that’s the best I can come up with) twang in the aftertaste. Not very good.

On tap at OB. Cloudy orange-red body, thin yellow-cream head. Light fruity, caramely aroma. Flavor was likewise fruity and caramely with a hint of wet socks and some earthy hops. Pretty standard and a bit thin-bodied.

On tap at OB. Deep brown body, thin cream-colored head. Slightly sweet toasty aroma with nutty notes. Flavor was rather light, toasty, with some nuttiness and dark fruit/caramels. Slightly bitter finish. Too thin-bodied.

On tap at OB. Deep chestnut brown body, thin/medium cream head. Toasty, dry chocolate aroma. Flavor profile was nice and full with rich roasted malts, toast, and plenty of baker’s chocolate. Relatively creamy and somewhat dry for a sweet stout. Yup, it’s Old Boys’ best beer.
