Cask at Roebuck, Burton on Trent. Pours a golden amber with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing> There’s mainly malts in the aroma, plus some oranges. In the mouth traditional hops are to the fore at the start, plus some underlying caramel. Later, malts and stewed apples come through plus some traces of sulphur. Finish is quite dry. Not bad at all.

Half-pint, cask, shared with Finn at Devonshire Arms. Clear amber, covering beige head, fair lacing. Bread and caramel on the nose, promising. Hints of caramel butter to the taste profile, joined by moments of stewed fruits. Ends smooth with mid-sweet malts. Quite alright. (Burton-on-Trent 14.10.2022).

Cask at Brewery Tap (National Brewery Centre), Burton on Trent. Pours a bright golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts, nuts and corn in the aroma plus just a trace of traditional hops. In the mouth the first flavour to hit the taste buds is chunky marmalade, very quickly followed by old school hops and autumn fruits. Maybe a little pumpkin in there too. Finish is quite bitter. Not a world beater – but a decent beer.

Cask (gravity) at Last Heretic, Burton on Trent. Pours a golden amber with minimal off-white head. There’s marmalade and sweet malts in the aroma here. Mouthfeel gives autumn fruitd, marmalade and tangerines with some evidence of alcoholic strength, and a sweet stickiness. Finish is fruity. Awesome – very drinkable.

On tap at Roebuck, Burton-on-Trent No discernible nose. Pours a reddish brown with a sizeable off-whitew head. Several different strands to flavour in the mouth. Fruity with raspberries featuring, hoppy bitterness but also malty and nutty with walnuts. The fruit dominates at the finish though. Nice and drinkable.
