Draught @ Tommyknocker. Aroma has funky yeasty tones, grass and some biscuits. Flavour has grapefruit, grass and some odd, stuffy and sourish off-flavour. Also some worty tones, minerals and hints of fruit candy. Finishes somewhat musty and harsh. Aroma was nice but flavour is not. Sorachi Ace is still not my favourite hop.

(Keg at Bier-Bier, 20150131) The beer poured black. Its head was small and almost white. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and something hinting berries. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, sweetness, something berry-like, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, hoppy and bitter. A good imperial stout wiht not too heavy burntness.

Tap at Brewdog Helsinki, Helsinki. Colour is black with very small white head. Aromas and flavors: Coffee, hints of licorice, dryness, some sweetness, hints of coffee and roasted malts. Not very soft. Had to drink in a rush so have to try again some other time.

Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki
Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, sweet syrup, berries, hints of chocolate and cold coffee. Taste is sweet, roasty and slick with notes of berries, syrup, chocolate and ash. Finish is sweet, slick and syrupy with notes of roastiness, hops, hints of berries, licorice and chocolate. A bit unbalanced, could use some more body. Feels quite sweet for my taste.

Draught @ Ølhus København. Aroma is sweet with licorice and some fruity notes. Flavour is rather sweet with sugary tones, syrup, licorice and some hops. Throat-warming alcohol occurs. Some raspberry tones with hops at the end of the glass. Sweetness overdose and drinkability is not that great but I seem to enjoy this at some level. The licorice tones are nice.

Tap @ Brewery Helsinki brewpub. Almost clear amber with a medium sized off-white head. Not very strong aroma, but interesting. Fruity, yeast, malt and spicy. Flavor is sweet malt, citric fruity, yeast, spices and hint of liquorice. Medium body and average aftertaste. Drinkable and interesting without starting a revolution.

Tap@ Bryggeri Helsinki. Amber colored, thick lasting white head. Anise, medicine notes, smoothness. Interesting aroma. Ripe banana, aniseed, malt, hops. Belgian wibes, like the licorice notes, and the smoothness. Pleasant.

Tap at Gastropub Nordic, Tampere. Deep amber color, steady beige head. Aroma has fruits, alcohol and some yeast. Medium-bodied. Nice mix of Abbey yeast dark fruits, berries and licorice. Sweetish finish with some banana. Interesting and so far the best of Donut Island beers.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20141018) The beer poured brown and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, sweetness, yeast and malty bread. Palate was medium bodied and stinging with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, yeast, fruitiness, spiciness, saltiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, spicy and bitter. Too many flavours for me to have in one go

Tap at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour cloudy dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Some fruits, licorice, some sweetness and malts. Licorice is actually very dominating and everything else still is farmhouse elements. This is one of those beers which is changing very much after aging. Mystery.
