Description
Wilmington Brew Works is the first production brewery in Delaware’s largest city since 1955. Housed in a 100-year old former laboratory in the old 9th Ward, we are keeping the spirit of the building’s origins alive with new and innovative Ales, Lagers, Sours and Ciders. Our family-friendly taproom has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for you to enjoy a drink with friends - old and new.

We brew a wide range of styles, one to fit every taste bud imaginable. Our NE IPAs, fermented with a cultivated wild yeast strain, have become a signature style for us, while our frutied kettle sours are changing people’s perceptions of what a beer can be. In addition, Wilmington Brew Works is the only brewery operating with an alternating premise license in the State of Delaware. This means that in addition to brewing beer, we are able to operate as a Cidery and produce a line of Urban Orchard Works hard cider.

Got in a trade with larryi86. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 6/18/2019. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy medium golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon,. gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit of malty/muddy aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon,. gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon,. gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a delicious session American Pale Ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Great soft feel, and not aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great Amarillo, Citra, and Nugget profile. Very vibrant, juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized bready wheat/Munich malt backbone for the ABV. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made East Coast style example.
