Description
Hi-Wire Brewing’s journey began in the summer of 2013 at their 2,700 square foot South Slope Brewery located at 197 Hilliard Ave in the heart of Asheville’s South Slope Brewery District. With the 2015 opening of their Big Top Production Brewery up the road, the original Hi-Wire brewhouse is 100% dedicated to brewing award-winning sour and wild ales and one-off small batch beers.

Brewing beers with a connection to the past is important to us. We love to brew traditional styles that honor the heritage of our craft and pay respect to those who have crafted beer before us. Yet, as an American craft brewer, we are elated to participate in the culture of experimentation that has developed here.

Bottle. Nice Amber-copper color. Nice two finger head. Aroma and taste was a nice spicy Belgian ale. Pretty good

Bottle. Appearance is gold with a decent head. It may be a lager but it tastes and smells like an IPA.

Quite the piney pint, with loads of coniferous bitterness mixed with modest notes of mango, candied grapefruit peel and a touch of bubblegum. Finishes long and dry. Nice.

Pretty good hazy, not so much juicy as balanced, with stone fruit, tropical notes and citrus leading to a firm pine-mineral bitterness on the finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Kind of a disappointment. I always had higher expectations for Hi-Wire. This one is a tad on the weak side.

Bottle. Light copper-gold in color. No rye in the flavor or aroma all one gets is the hops, like most IPAs.

Bottle. Amber/copper in color. Aroma is highly on the tasty, malty side. Taste is slightly sweet on the front end, well balanced in the middle with a rich malty finish. I like it.

Can. I have to complement Hi-wires effort to cover the full gambit of styles but this one was not very good. Keep trying though.

Can. So if you have lactose in the IPA doesn't that make it a milkshake IPA. That's what the can says.
