Very small, yellowish head; orange-chestnut coloured beer, still carbonation. Earthy, (chest)nutty nose, whiffs of chocolate and of hops (bit as Mexican mole sauce). Alcohol too, almondy. First watery-sweet beer, getting bitterish and, at least partially, filling in. This watery consistency seems to be a characteristic to GB beers - Mike M doesn’t seem to believe in MF nor in carbonation. Again some chocolate in the finish. Consistency of a British (best)bitter at best. In the aftertaste, I have a "foxy", slightly burning caramel flavour, but it cannot save the lack of flavour sofar. Not very great D-bock. Mike, try some Belgian stuff to learn about MF. Or Eis-Bock this.

Dark burgundy red-foxy colour; virtually no head. American hops nose, rich, dry hopsacks, grapey, green sultana’s, and fleetingly, some Thai herb. Rich, faint sweetness, malts, but watered down texture, very markedly. Bit of chocolate, tobacco (retronasal), and of course again a good dose of US hops. Grapey, not vinous, also bit of cardboard; warming up some sweat. MF is the Achilles heel of this beer. The thinness (for a 7% ABV beer!) is so marked it is embarrassing. Aftertaste has slightly burning component. Nowhere bad. It is interesting as it has some characteristics of a session beer, and some of a Big’un. Thanks for the switch, Jeppe.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark, hazy amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving some laces. Malty aroma with notes of alcohol. Very potent and solid body with notes of overripe fruit. The alcohol is very present - and perhaps a slight note of honey in there too. Very wellcrafted beer, but also this time a little low in carbonation. 141005

A hazy orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes lactic acid - not inviting. But the flavor is better: Sweet with notes of straw and caramel, on a sligtly malty background.

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful, clear light brown beer - completely missing the head. The beer is close to flat. Marked - almost fat - hoppy aroma (Cascade). Loads of roasted malt and notes of caramel. Hops add lots of flavour too but don’t leave any excessive bitterness on the palate. Quite neat, but they really have to do something about their CO2 level. 031005

[Sampled at Københavnske Øldage in May. I wanted to re-sample this beer before rating it, since I found it way too young and sharp in the edges, and wanted to sample a more rounded version. But since Bock^2 is now out, I’m afraid, this will not be released again, so now I enter my thoughts from the Copenhagen festival, and will re-rate if I ever find it again.] An unclear orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is dominated by alcohol, but also with some fruity notes. The flavor is very alcoholic - a little like drinking liquour, but also with strong notes of fennel as well as lesser notes of oranges. In the end the alcohol dries out the mouth.

An orange beer with no head - probably due to being the one that was smuggled out from Roskilde Festivalen. The aroma contains alcohol and the metal note, that sometimes accompany alcohol, but also some notes of apricot. The flavor contains strong notes of alcohol, which gives You the warmth, but also gives the beer a metal note, which intertwines with notes of apricot. The end is dry. To me this is a down the middle of the road Bock.

Cloudy golden color; big creamy head. Very nice fruity aroma, very hoppy. Sweet, malty (not thick), with a wonderful fruity hopping. Maybe still young experience, not refined, but excellent.

An uncleaf dark amber beer with a nice beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel as well as hints of hops. The flavor is also sweet with nice powerful notes of aroma hops, as well as caramel. The end is dry and hoppy. Highly drinkable - a more complex and maybe powerful aroma would suit me better.
