Very pale yellow with a lasting white head. Grain, wheat, citrus aromas. Pleasant balanced bitterness with a lingering hop flavour. Soft carbonation that doesn’t suit the refreshing flavour.

Black with a creamy tan head. Malt, chocolate and plum aromas. Sweet, slightly roasted and with a lingering bitterness. Full bodied and a creamy mouthfeel.
Re-rate Harboe version 2013: Thin with hardly any roasted character

Bottle 0,66l. A medium sized tanned head that almost disappeared. Dark red brown coloured. Sweet malty aroma. Rich flavour dominated by roasted malts, but also fruity and nutty hints. A "heavy" dry aftertaste were the alcohol shines through. (20.07.2007:) I also had the pleasure of having it to Bacalao. The combination was very good.

Hardly any head, just a very thin white film. Dark red translucent body. Sweet licorice aroma with earthy notes. Bitter hoppy licorice taste with burnt notes. Sweet maltiness detectable in background. Dry, burnt aftertaste lingers. Could have had a bit more edge, but still very good. (0.66l bottle.)

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, small foamy layer, moderate sweetish-fruity (dried fruit) and caramelly nose with a hoppy touch; sweetish-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; sweet-fruity finish with a tinge of coffee and a roastmalty bitterness in the aftertaste. A decent, easy-drinking Doppelbock. Merci, Jonas !

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, small, a bit creamy layer; robust hoppy nose, mixed with a distinctive touch of toasted malt; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium-bodied; lingering aromatic-bitter finish, balanced by a good amount of dark or toasted malt. A very pleasant, well rounded Ale.... Danke, Jonas!

660 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 10.5%. Deep copper colour, large tan head. Interesting aroma, sweet and malty, but also notes of various berries, esp. blackberries, and molasses, caramel and bakery. Intense flavour, very malty and sweet with loads of caramel, partly balanced by a distinct hoppy bite. Spices and alcohol are present too (alcohol maybe more than I appreciate). Quite good, but not easy drinking - the bottle is for sharing!
