Description
Monasteries have been brewing as far back as the sixth century to provide sustenance and benevolence to the communities they served. Water-borne epidemics during this period were commonplace, and the boiling of beer during the brewing process, made it a far healthier option than the town’s water supply.

So Monks Brewed.

What made monastic breweries different was that the monks brought patience, process and dedication to the practice of brewing. At Monkless, there are no monks, but this is our devotion. We practice patience to perfection in our brewing process, and focus exclusively on Belgian-style ales.

16oz can from Tavour. Very different - a one point it's a Tripel, next it's a DDH IPA. Odd combo - still pretty tasty

16oz can from Tavour. Medium golden, clear, small, spotty head. Aroma is caramel malts and Belgian yeast. Taste starts with a burst of floral notes, then some alcohol warmth, caramel, butter before finishing with a sharp sting. Darn good.

Can from Tavour. Pours bright, brassy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma seems quite floral. Hint of yeast. Med body. It's dry. Very. Earthy/yeasty. Suddenly it's not dry. There's a spice hint that could be clove. An astringency that could be pineapple. Bitter enough. A little imagination could find Brett. Maybe a lot of imagination. Good flavors.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is a bit yeasty with some spice and a little coriander. Med body. Flavor is not entirely dry; yeast; earth; hot bits - could be clove - could be pepper - could be both. Might even have some passion fruit. :) Nice, but not a trace of Brett - always hoping tho.

16oz can c/o Anndiesel. Dry-hopped Tripel. Wins me from the start for intelligent innovation. Maintains its Tripelhood while adding some pleasant hop tone. Quite a nice beer. More American Tripel than Belgian, lacks some of that finesse and effervescence. Deep malts, a touch candy sugar, and some nice dry hop tone. Really good.

Tall can from Melvins, Sisters, Oregon. Sipped at our AirBnb in Bend. Pours clear gold, good white froth. Aroma bears pleasant citrus with some light yeast. Taste is largely citrus-forward, some floral lime, with distant triple esters. The hops seem to have transformed the triple into a citrussy APA, light, sessionable with distant yeasty esters.. fine but a little confused.

Dark amber with white head. Spice in the aroma. Herby taste with lots of malt. Great care was taken with this beer.
