On tap at Bergen Ølfestival. It’s a dark brown beer topped by a dense, light tan head leaving lacings. The aroma is mostly on the caramel and toffee side, with roasted malts, coffee and some butterscotch. Not much chili or berries to be found. The same goes for the flavor, the additions just lurks in the background, but fortunately the butterscotch isn’t as evident in the flavor as in the aroma. And of course, you get used to it. Full-bodied and quite dry. Overall, sure a fine brew, pity there were some butterscotch going on. 150906

On tap at Bergen Ølfestival. It’s a hazy, yellow-orange coored beer topped by a small, white head. Banana, apple and a generic fruityness in the aroma, with a light breadyness and some sourish notes. It’s medium bodied and dry on the palate, not really tart in any way, with a light hoppy flavor as well as banana, apples and some bread. Long finish. A refreshing beer, but too much on the hefeweizen side I think. 150609

Bottle. A dark brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick dark beige head. The aroma is rather roasted, with licorice, burnt notes, some coffee grit and dark chocolate, licorice and a certain citrusy, piney hoppyness. It’s full-bodied, smooth and quite bitter on the palate, semi-dry, and with flavors of roasted and burnt malts, dark chocolate and coffee grit as a backdrop for a nice addition of piney, citrusy malts. Lasting finish balancing bitterness, roasted malts and hoppy flavors in a nice way. Far from the traditional Christmas beer, but it’s a fine brew indeed. 151229

500ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Bubbly, tan-coloured head over a coal black body. Spotty lacing. Smoked malty aroma with scent of earthy malts. Nicely smoked flavours with hints of chocolate, earth, nuts and delicately offset by pine needles towards a lingering end. Well bodied. In fact, perfect match with my Port ribs dinner (Tromsø 19.12.2015).

Orangebrun noe tåkete med lavt beige skum. Lukter fersken og blomster. Bittersøt smak, middels fylde, bitter mot druestein og grapefrukt. Herlig balansert. Fruktsødmen ligger som et flott bakteppe. Bitterheten sitter godt.

Big beige head. Clear barely translucent deep dark red body. Light roasty toasted sugar aroma with earthy smoky notes. Dry (beech) smoky roasty liquorice taste with earthy caramel notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry roasty smoky liquorice aftertaste with orangey spicy notes. Lingering exaggerated bitterness. Nice, drinkable, harmonic. Not their best, though. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Lørenskog. Batch no smudged, but looks like 100.)
