Double mash imperial stout by this northern English brewery, thanks Steve for sharing the can. Medium sized, greyish beige, creamy, small-bubbled but opening head, very dark chocolate brown robe, near black but still largely translucent under bright light, with mahogany brown glow. Aroma of caramel sauce, milk chocolate, candied cherries, chocolate and vanilla jelly pudding, toffee, young madera, cognac, Jack & Coke, praline, chewing gum, cloves, liquorice, plum liqueur, honey. Very sweet onset, very caramelly, some candied fig and candied cherry notes, medium carb, full and slick-oily body; deeply toffeeish middle with milk-chocolatey and pecan-nutty accents, a tad resinous, with liquorice-, vanilla- and clove-like aspects adorning the finish along with a tea-ish hop bitterish accent – but also, and more than anything, lots of honeyish and caramelly sweetness lingering about, turning quite sticky in the end, when warmed by Kirsch-like alcohol, which - though obviously very present - remains altogether soft considering the towering ABV. Like a liquid ‘praline’, very sweet even if not technically a pastry stout; a very good example of how imperial stout has veered away from its robust roasty origins and became liquid dessert as a result of the globalization of craft brewing. Bit too sweet for me personally, but admittedly well-made.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, good fine crispness. Slightly thin malts but with a light creamy sweetness. Citra brings savoury green hop into thin pine and thin orangey citrus, some mild pith and perhaps a whisper of tangerine. A good sprinkling of hop spice on the semi dry finish. Tidy. Drinkable. For me nothing special as a Citra showcase (no vibrant orange/tangerine/mandarin, no pink grapefruit or mango).

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. A slightly thin but reasonably sweet malt set struggles to hold back the waves of bitterness coming off the Galaxy hops. Been awhile since I felt the full force of Galaxy. That ain't a Star Wars euphemism! It's a tangy piney bitterness with a slightly soapy thin citrus on the back end. Light and fairly dry finish brings out that fruit salad character of Galaxy that was once so familiar. Undeniably hoppy but it is pretty edgy with it and a lot of that is the character of the hop.

Thick and hoppy, really fruity. Tropical fruit, citrus and mango, even some pine back there somewhere. Sweet, juicy with a dry finish. Yum.

Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Pours hazy black with a thin, foamy, beige head. Aroma of wet earth, chicory, 'raw' vanilla, chocolate powder, cream, peanut, walnut, dried fig, toast. Taste has sweetish chocolate, dark toffee, walnuts, dried dark fruits & the faintest touch of cream; quickly becoming bitter earthy, toasty, coffee- & even chicory-like with an edge of leathery umami even, resulting in a malty, (dark) chocolatey finish with subtle earthy hops and slightly stronger earthy coffee, and a touch of whisky alcohol. Medium to full body, thin creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. All in all this beer does not live up to its description; I don't mind the lack of apparent lactose & vanilla if other aspects make up for that but the shallow body for a 10.5% beer is just disappointing!

Can shared at tasting. Ugly murky punica, so fruit juice appearance. Ugly, bleh. Aroma andflavor are firm, firm hoppy notes, again those typical NEIPA notes but I must admit maybe there is some resin hint there. Decent.
