Description

Bottle from Lekkerbier, 7% ABV, BB 19-11-2014, large sample, served in a tulip glass. Almost clear golden color, big frothy off-white head. Aroma of german smoked malt, ashes, bacon, dry wood, smoke. Medium bitter in taste, smokey, dry. Still theres plenty of maltiness present as well. Really made in a german way, like a german maibock with a bunch of smoked malts. Wonderful stuff.

Bottled from Lekker Bier, 10% ABV, BB 04.05.2015, large sample, served in a trappist glass. Almost clear golden color, short frothy head. Aroma is fruity, strawberry, slight buttery, some grassy hop, spicy yeast, some high fusels, slight green apple. Quite sweet in taste, just slightly bitter, medium alcoholic. Quite sticky and sirupy. Not as dry and high on carbonation as most Belgian counterparts. Seems to be all malt and no sugar, or at least not as much as 10-15% of the malt bill. Its a bit one-dimensional, all going malty and alcoholic. Not as bad as some ratings say though, if you look at the style.

Bottled from Lekker Bier, as Edelweiss with pink label, BB 02-07-2014, large sample, served in a shaker. Almost clear golden color, big frothy off-white head with quite large stream of bubbles. Aroma of caramel malt, slight citrus, bit grassy and spicy, slight grainy. Not much weizen to be discovered. Taste is sweet of grains, candy, belgian-like yeast. Bit bitter. Slight metallic bitterness. Finishes a bit dry and bitter, but also with a sticky palate. Carbonation is medium to high, medium bodied. I was expecting a hefeweizen kind of beer, but they literally mean wheat with the weizen. It doesnt have the banana and clove you expect from a hefeweizen yeast. Judging this as a weizenbock (what I expect from it at least) is a big disappointment. Judging this as a slight bitter belgian amber ale, its quite ok. Label says: "hefeweizenbock". Final judgement: disappointment.

Bottled from Lekker Bier, as Oerpilsener 5.6%, BB 12-12-2014, large sample, served in a shaker. Almost clear yellow to golden color, huge white head with quite dense lacing. Aroma of lots of noble hops, slight grassy, bit spicy, hint of butter belonging to the style. Medium grainy bitterness, slight sweet. Not perfectly clean and crips, but getting close. A bit too caramelly and a bit too much off-flavors perhaps. Still, I like it.

Bottled from Lekker Bier, BB10-09-14, large sample, served in a tulip glass. Hazy orange to amber color, medium off-white frothy head. Aroma of caramel, slight spicy yeast, bit grassy hop. Medium sweet in taste, slight bitter. Not as hop-forward or grainy as most other (Dutch) lentebocks, but much more malt-forward and even caramelly. Ok stuff, but not your typical lentebock.

Cloudy orange. White head. Extremely strong aroma of grape fruit, lime, tropical fruits, pine shoots and a hint of sweet dessert wine. A lot of bitterness in taste, combined with malt sweetness.

Bottle shared at chriso’s. Pours unclear gold with a frothy white head. The nose has sugary bread, some candied ham, toast. Medium sweet flavor with more candied ham, leaves, dirt, bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with burnt pale malts, smoke, burnt ham, more leafy bitterness. So so.
