Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Drought. Golden yellow with spongy beige head, floral hops aroma, smooth hoppy taste with a hint of lavender, low carbonation, abrupt finish. Enjoyable, easy drinking.

From a can with a elephant on it. Smells a little hoppy sweet and cloying. Looks like a darker hefe. Taste is big dull resin hoppy BS. Mouth coating with even the slightest sip. Yes, thick and viscous on the palate. Not real cloying but the bitterness and the hops really get to ya in a nearly sweet kindah way. long bitter nasty Nellie finish. this rototiller keeps on coming on. So much for my second beer from the nebbie sate.

Bottle - Tart and funky stone fruit. Cloudy orange with a frothy head. Sweet, tart, citrus and a light bitterness. Almost like a Tripel in taste.

Draft pour. Pours black with a slightly boozy chocolate aroma. Really smooth flavor with cocoa nibs and a touch of vanilla. A little boozy, but nowhere near overpowering. This beer goes down really easy. Really well done. Great stuff.

12oz can. A pretty solid US brown ale. Malty, easy going, clean...yet some decent depth. Nutty, caramel brown malts, maybe a touch of amber malt, all very judicious. Medium bodied, filtered, quite drinkable. Good.

Tasting at Chez Bruce. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is airy and light, fine carbonation. Light floralness and a good winey tang. Mellow fruits underneath. Airy finish brings touches of yeast and spice. Joins up well.

Crisp light brown coloured body with a deep bronzed glow and a nice single centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of light malt, brown sugar, nuts, earth and even hints of fruit with the slightest note of a hop. Medium-bodied; Assertive hazelnut and walnut flavours at first with a very light body, some light caramel sweetness and not much else aside from earth. Aftertaste is rather one-dimensional as well with the softer nuts hitting then some sugars - no complexity and no (this is good) bitterness or depth. Overall, a somewhat muted brown with a sweet finish and not showing the typical deepness or nuttiness of a brown, more soft and sweet. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Good Beer in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$2.59 sampled at home in Washington on 03-June-2014.
