Optisch praktisch tiefschwarz mit wenig orangebraunen Reflexen. Die bräunliche, feinporige Schaumkrone ist dabei sehr flaumig, fast cremig und unglaublich langlebig. Überraschend zurückhaltende Duftaromatik. Eine zart subtile Süße, die an Marille erinnert? Hauptsächlich aber eher trocken wirkend. Viel mehr kann man gar nicht sagen. Der Antrunk kommt weichspritzig und süßlich-fruchtig. Am Gaumen ebenso süßlich-fruchtig mit angenehmen Röstmalz, zarter feiner Hefearomatik und einer leichten Herbe, die ein Gefühl von cremigen Mokka und dunkler Schokolade schaffen. die süßlich-fruchtigen Noten fügen sich dabei ganz gut ein, sodass das Gesamtbild an reife Banane in Schoko, Marille in Schoko oder Pflaume in Schoko erinnert. Dieses Gefühl setzt sich auch im Nachtrunk fort und eine zarte Rumnote kommt kurz auf. Viel bleibt danach aber leider nicht mehr übrig. Die Sache flacht etwas zu rasch ab.

One of the Ukraine's standard industrial lagers, owned by AB InBev, which now sells it outside of the country as well - with the profits going to "Ukrainian relief". Can from a local Delhaize supermarket here in Belgium, actually disclosing that the beer is actually brewed in Belgium (and I know it is Leuven) - indeed this is the brewing concern boasting that they can brew any of their beers in any of their breweries all around the world. Makes we wonder if a separate entry should be made for this version or not, but I will happily leave it to the admins to sort that out. I haven't had the Ukraine-brewed version so I am unable to compare if this Leuven-brewed version is identical with the original, let us give this matter the benefit of the doubt and assume that it is. Medium thick, rather irregular, snow white, cobweb-lacing, opening but generally retaining head, crystal clear pure 'metallic' golden blonde robe with big bubbles of carbon dioxide rising up from the bottom. Weak aroma of corn bread, Cracottes, the water from a can of corn, plaster, papier maché, wet white paper, some iron, very vague honey and a faint note of grass. Cereally sweet, very clean onset, the corn sweetishness immediately coming up strong, followed by a faint note of actual bready barley; medium carb, some light metallic aspects but not overly so, bit glueish but rounded mouthfeel. Cereally sweetishness throughout, very simplistic, ending with only the faintest note of grassy hop bitterishness, lingering a little bit on the root of the tongue - but you will need to taste it with great attention to notice it. Corn water lingers, but so does this very thinly bready barley malt aspect; generally though, also because of the carbonation being below average for a standard pale lager, the whole ends a tad watery. That said, I was expecting much worse to be honest: in fact there are less 'chemical' flavour aspects here than in many of the other mass-marketed standard pale lagers AB InBev has in its portfolio of highly industrialized 'beers', and that includes Stella and Jupiler. I am even inclined to say that I would prefer this one over those two Belgian alternatives; in any case this Chernigivske has a somewhat different, fuller, sweeter and very subtly more malt-forward profile, so contrary to what I was fearing, it indeed seems to be brewed according to the recipe they normally use, instead of filling these cans with Stella or Jupiler out of laziness. It is what it is, a standard pale lager like there are thirteen (or in fact many more) in a dozen, but compared with both the Western European pale lagers AB InBev produces and the other ones available in the Ukraine (think Obolon), this is better than expected. I can only hope that this capitalist monster of a company keeps its promise and effectively sends its profits to the war-torn Ukraine!

Trüb honigfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Leicht fruchtiger, malziger Geruch. Geschmacklich leicht fruchtig mit Koriander, malzig, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Dem Auge springt ein sattes Goldgelb entgegen. Der leichte Glanz macht die Optik nicht unattraktiver. Die weiße, feinporige Schaumkrone fällt in kurzer Zeit auf unter einen Zentimeter zusammen. In der Nase relativ süßlich, leicht phenolisch mit einem Einschlag von Klebstoff. Dazu leicht fruchtig-weinig, zart malzaromatisch sowie leicht würzig. Der Antrunk kommt ziemlich frisch und süßlich-fruchtig. Am Gaumen teilen sich die Aromen in eine postitive und negative Richtung auf. Durchaus gut sind die karamelligen Malznoten, sowie die leicht süßlich-fruchtigen Anklänge und der leicht weinige Touch. Leider werden diese Freuden durch phenolische, estrige, klebstoffartige Noten zunichte gemacht. Es wirkt einerseits unrund, andererseits auch ein wenig unangenehm. Über Trinkfreude oder Süffigkeit braucht man in diesem Fall auch gar nicht weiter reden. Im Nachtrunk wirken die leicht süßlichen und fruchtigen Aromen anfangs durchaus okay. Zunehmends wird es immer herber und herber. Fazit: Sowas geht deutlich besser!
