On tap at the brewpub. It pours a more or less black body, at least very dark brown. Finger thick light beige head. Hazy. The aroma is roasted with coffee and a faint dms touch. Chocolate too. The flavor has a little sweet feeling, but it’s pretty dry on the palate. Roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate and a nice bitterness. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting roasted finish with a nice bitterness. More a porter than a schwarzbier this one, but nice and easy drinkable. 140126

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a reddish dark brown body, pretty clear, and with a small, beige head. The aroma has lots of roasted malts and coffee, a little touch of dark chocolate and a faint whiff of bonfire. There’s also a really pleasant piney hoppyness and some citrus peel. Roasted, coffee-ish flavor with both hoppy and malty bitterness. Citrus peel at an un-typical level for a porter, but it’s really nice this way. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Semi-dry and with some warmth. Lasting bitter and roasted finish. Overall, sure a nice one, will definitely have more of this. 140123

The house beer at Benny’s. Pretty clear amber body with a decent off-white head. Not strong, but pleasant aroma with a combination of mild malt and fruit. Flavor is very refreshing, light malty and moderate fruity and some bitterness. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste. Quite soft malt feeling that feels a bit plain in the start ends up with a more prominent caramel flavor together with both light citric fruit and some dry fruit in the aftertaste. The bitterness is also more prominent in the aftertaste. All in all not a bad version of a not to exiting beer style. Is it thought that the rocking dudes are afraid of dark beer and hops?

On tap @ the brewpub. Slightly unclear golden body with a nice off-white head. Aroma is light malty with lots of citric fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citric fruit and balanced bitterness. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. Another fine IPA from CB, but it’s actually difficult to come up with anything new describing this. It’s just too many IPA’s in the world.

250 ml bottle at the brewpub. Very dark brown, almost black with a fine, dense beige head. (head on first sample did collapse, but the second bottle was stable). Strong aroma of dark malt, slightly roasted, coffee, dark chocolate, dry fruit and some liquorice with a warming alcoholic touch. Flavor is sweet, dark, not too heavy roasted malt with the rest of the flavors as found in aroma. Nice bitterness. Long aftertaste with sweet malt, balanced bitterness and warming alcohol. A really nice one this.
