On tap at the brewpub. This is a special version of Black Velvet Stout with some really mean habanero chili. Body is black with a medium sized, dense tan head. The habanero is definitively present in the aroma and feels a bit fruity as well, leaving less space for the roasted malt. Flavor is sweet roasted malt like the original beer, but the hot habanero is quickly dominating most of the experience. Somehow I feel the same hard roasted malt from the black velvet more smooth and even the body even feels lighter in this beer. The aftertaste leaves me with just a hot burning feeling in the mouth. It’s totally drinkable and even not the hottest beer made at CB, but still to hoot to do this beer any good. It’s a novelty beer out of balance.

On tap at the brewpub. Unclear orange body with a nice, lasting white head. Aroma is citric fruity with a hint of caramel malt. Flavor is sweet, medium malty with citric fruit and moderate bitterness. Medium pluss body and moderate in aftertaste. Definitive drinkable beer to go with the burger, but a bit one dimensional in my opinion. I know CB can make better IPA’s and when the pale ale gives the impression of being bitterer than the IPA I’m not too impressed with this one.

On tap at the brewpub. Unclear orange body with a lasting, small but dense off-white head. Nice citric fruity aroma with some caramel malt in the background. Flavor is nice smooth malty, hint of caramel, grassy, fruity and pine bitterness. Very refreshing. Medium body and a pleasant aftertaste. A solid, nice, refreshing, easy to drink, quite bitter pale ale. Nothing outstanding really, just plain solid work.

On tap @ the brewpub. Unclear orange body with a foamy, long lasting off-white head. Aroma of citric fruit, some pine and light caramel malt. Flavor is sweet and citric fruity with balanced bitterness. Good body and pleasant bitter aftertaste. A perfect, straight forward balanced and refreshing IPA without starting any kind of revolution.

On tap at the brewpub. A lightly unclear, dark golden-orange beer topped by a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is rather citrusy, with green pine cones and some maltyness. Lightly sweetish in the mouth, but with more than enough bitterness to deal with it. Full body, nice carbonation. Quite dry finish. Yet another fine IPA from this brewpub. 130725

On tap at the brewpub. It’s a close to pitch black beer, topped by a creamy, light tan head of moderate size. The aroma is on the roasted side, not very complex, but pleasant. Some chocolate and a lovely touch of salty licorice. Some bitterness in the flavor, but as for the aroma it’s mostly roasted malts. Full body with soft carbonation. Lasting finish. Certainly a nice and tasteful one, well worth a revisit. 130720
