IP trade with johnnnniee the #1 rater of NH breweries. Gets me 1 closer to catching this guy which is near impossible if not impossible 😎 23-ish year old bottle. Minimal quickly/almost instantly with aggressive pour, disappearing lt tan head-mahogany. Nose is awesome barleywine character, and a fair amount of sherry notes. T-good, enjoyable. Thanks for the opportunity. Now for another closed NH brewery or two that I havent had. 8/2/6/3/14=3.3 for current experience. Age adjusted 4.0

Bottle shared Friday night by Dan, thanks for the opportunity. I’ve had this on a few occasions but never fresh. Shows its age but drinks better than I thought it would. Still some caramel sweetness, it must have been syrupy fresh. Light cardboard and sherry notes, light fruit and a somewhat bitter earthy flavor that at times seemed a bit harsh. At almost 15 years old has certainly declined, but still quite drinkable.

Wow, thanks to Indra for this rare treat! Rich fruity aroma, with some burnt malts and tobacco leaf. Just a tad oxidized, but the touch of sherry actually adds a welcome character and complexity. Fruity and bready, biscuity malts. Peppery alcohol burn. Amber color, but shows clear at the edges, looks like whiskey in the glass. Minimal head and carbonation. Nicely bitter finish.

Bottled. Chestnut brown. Fruity, orangey nose. Very sweet and really hoppy. Thick, malty mouthfeel and lingering very bitter sugary finish. Probably still too young when I sampled it.

Chunky and brown; thick rich malts, dark chocolate. Still a little young, even though it is not made any more.

Toasty, chocolatey, slightly astringent. In need of more body and complexity. Standard at best.
