12 oz. can, 6.7% ABV, Packaged on: 18OCT23
AROMA: Sweet with strong scents of brown sugar and malt, which is then followed by hints of chocolate and bread.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque dark-brown with a very tall, tan head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. It looks fantastic in a clear, Pilsner glass!
TASTE: Moderately sweet with mild flavors of malt, bread, dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel at the very last moment .
MOUTHFEEL: For me, this just edges into the full-bodied classification ... but just barely. The texture is somewhat smooth with average carbonation.
OVERALL: To be honest, when I saw this in the store, I really wasn't expecting much. Especially since I have tried a few other Einstök beers, and found them to be kind of "blah". However, I had tired of trying the never ending sea of IPAs and a Dopplebock seemed like a welcome change of pace. Much to my surprise, I found that I greatly enjoyed this beer. It looks great in the glass, has a very pleasing aroma and flavor, which is sweet (but not overly so), and feels nice on the tongue. Is it an outstanding beer? Perhaps not. However, it is the type of beer that doesn't offend on any front, yet still offers something to draw you in. My only "gripe" is that it's a seasonal beer. If it weren't, then I would happily buy it year round.
This is the kind of beer that, on a cold sunny day, I like to sit outside and sip on because it reminds me of several of my favorite German beers that I imbibe on during Oktoberfest. Prost!

So the label says this was canned on 2/1/23 and is good until 1/2/24, and damned if I can think of another IPL with the chutzpah to say it has an eleven-month shelf life. Tastes like a year-old hoppy lager, in that the hops are gone and the esters are in full overripe fruit mode. I’d love to try this fresh, but it’s a mess now.
